Herb Day, 2015

Last Saturday (May 2) was Herb Day at our local extension office.  They put on the show every year, and there are usually lots of new plants and herbs to appreciate.  This was the first time I had even been out of the house in nearly two weeks, so I was excited to attend, albeit a bit shaky.

There were lots of booths around the perimeter of the building,

and my original intent was to go around the perimeter and see the plants outside first.  However, the restroom called my name, so I decided to check out the plants inside first.

It was actually a beautiful day, and I couldn't understand why so many people were dressed for winter.

There was nothing I hadn't seen in years past, including the guy selling the rain barrels.

So it was off to see what was outside.  Just as I was getting ready to take a photo of a fish, a woman stepped in and rotated it.
I had to wait till she left to get a photo of it.  Gotta' love crowds.

I never fail to find a cat to show Bleubeard, though.  It makes him feel like he was there.

More of the same old same old, and prices were so high this year, I nearly balked.  Small square pots were $5.00, round were $8.00.  Two years ago I paid $2.50 for round pots (or 5 for $10.00) and $1.00 for small ones.  And it was EVERY place I stopped.   Needless to say, Herb Day was a bust for me this year.  If you want to see my photos (from my old lousy camera) from Herb Day 2012, please go here.  For Herb Day 2013, please go here

Thanks for joining me for Herb Day 2015.  I hope you enjoyed the look around.

Prices are rising everywhere aren't they Elizabeth! Herb day looks like a fun thing to attend and see the newer exhibits. Love the cat, hope Bleubeard enjoyed seeing him too.

The fish mobile is awesome!

Glad you had some good weather but what a shame about the disappointment.
Everything changes especially prices I guess.
Maybe the vendors were being charged more for their spaces? Just a thought.
We are having a wicked hail storm and I think I'd better get off the computer for a bit.
Take care E and feel better soon!

A nice event. Love the cat and the fish. Do you have a rain barrel? Those are interesting looking.

Too bad, prices are pretty good here in Maine, better than MA so that makes me happy. Not that cheap ever. Time to trade with friends. xox

I've noticed higher prices this year as well so far. And the huge local greenhouse went out of business. I'm not sure where I'm going to get my flowers this year.
Love the sculptures.

Too bad. Sounds like it went downhill. The cat is cute, though. :)

I wonder what the point of hiking up the prices with home grown stuff is? I would have thought they would want to sell lots, not take it all back home again. I noticed this when we were in Calgary and went to the local farmers market... I could shop cheaper at the supermarket!
Glad you got out of the house and had a nosey about, hopefully you are on track to feeling great again!

That is a very interesting 'Day'. I liked seeing all the garden ornaments, especially the cat and the fish - a comedic piece could be made of those two together I'm sure, hehe.
It's a shame the prices had risen so much from last year, but I'm glad you managed to get out and enjoy some fine weather.
I hope you continue to improve day on day :o))

Glad you were feeling well enough to get out and about despite the show being a bust. That was a pretty hefty jump in prices!
