WOYWW 53: Signatures and WIPs

Wasn't WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) 52 simply the BEST?? I know I sure had a ball. I know that Julia, Darcy, and I made it around to all the players last week, except I couldn't send a comment to the Twitter account that wanted my log-in information. Sorry, the only tweets around here will come from that bird stamp I love to use and is shown on my workdesk. How many workdesks did you visit last week?

In the mood to see all those desks again? Check out the links at Julia's Stamping Ground.

So what's this MESS, you ask? The Queen of Neat is really hard at it this week.

On the left are two sets of signatures for two books I'm making. SHHH! These are surprise gifts for two of my internet friends.

The fabric was dyed using two colors of Staz-on reinkers and alcohol mixed together. Wendy was looking on with interest, but made a dive for safety when she heard the word alcohol.

On the right is a nylon rope for my unfinished WOYWW anniversary project that will go over the window you can see in the first photo.

I had to stop sewing a few minutes ago because I ran out of white and black thread. All that is left in my arsenal is orange. Great accent for the book pages, but won't go with the pinkish dyed fabric. Which means a shopping trip is a MUST today.

OK, it's not a good photo, but sitting on my Staz-on pad is my brand new, first ever, carved using a paring knife (have I mentioned how craft/X-acto knife challenged I am?) stamp made by MOI. I'm so proud of it, regardless how simple it is.

And I promised Wendy a head shot, but she didn't want to push her bangs out of her eyes (she's SO like me), so the photo isn't the best. Have an awesome WOYWW 53. Wendy and I will be shopping, so I'll try to get to as many of you tonight as possible.

My blog pick of the day is familiar to many WOYWW ers. In fact, if you posted last week, you got a lovely and thoughtful comment from her. It's Darcy, mentioned above from Art and Sole. Her blog name is a clear indication of her love of art and shoes. She also makes awesome cakes and shares her recipes with us. All that goodness is bundled into a fantastic art blog. Her art is so stunning, if you didn't check out her WOYWWAC (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday Anniversary Challenge) art from last week, you missed a stunning post. Her art is unique, colorful, and she puts a lot into it. One of the things I appreciate about Darcy is her willingness to share the "ingredients" (her word) and processes she uses to make her lovely artwork. So be sure and give her a shout out today, whether you are with WOYWW or dropping by on your daily blogland visits.

Very tidy desk this morning. Those books look very interesting, can't wait to see the finished product. How good are you making your own stamp, very creative. Have a great shopping trip, enjoy. Tracy Evans x Oh and I love Wendy.

Well, mere mortals like me are speechless about the dying - I just think 'gotta buy a fabric dye'...but honestly I rarely think that!!
Wendy is a stunner doncha think - and just to be clear - when she heard about alcohol - she ran AWAY and not TOWARD? The opposite action to mine, for sure!
A green bin - our garden waste goes into this - lawn clippings and weeding and blah, we pay the council an extra sum a year for it to be collected and then they use it to make and sell compost. We have the same kerbside arangement for glass and tins, but cardboard and plastic we have to recycle ourselves by visiting our local facility. General household waste and non-recyclable is collected from Black bins (!) on a fortnightly basis and goes to landfill. We recycle a lot here...my little car makes a weekly trip if not more....

Great post- I've always wanted to make a stamp....I really need to write a "When I have time, I want to make..." list! Of course, it would be never ending, but isn't that what makes creating so much fun?

I'm xacto knife challenged too! Your stamp turned out great. This is a real accomplishment. The two mystery journals caught my attention. They seem large and just full of good stuff. Can't wait to see them finished. I love the stitched face. I also like orange and pink together but I can understand why you want to keep it uniform and it is always a downer when you run out of something while in the throws of creation.

Hi Elizabeth-I've just realised I didn't post a link to Julia's blog on mine-too early for me.DH does not have to stay in hospital with the monitor on but must go back tomorrow morning to have it removed. All that activity you have been up to has worn me out but I was interested in the Mentholatum building as our house was built in the same year! It is not concrete but brick. Old houses are two a penny round here-well maybe not quite two a penny. I see you are encouraging Wendy to socialise and she is gathering a cult following. I'm not surprised that such an attractive young woman is rapidly becoming popular. Am looking forward to your award posting. Don't leave it too long. Love BettyXXX
