T Stands For Buffet City

Several weeks ago, right before the news of COVID-19 hit the airwaves, my foodie friend Sally and I

decided to go to Buffet City for lunch.

I'm not big on Sushi and don't care for Pho, the Mongolian type BBQ Kathy shared last Tuesday.  I loved Mongolian BBQ in CA, but here the food sits out too long and there's not enough turnover for me to trust it.

It took me awhile to work my way through all these stations.  Of course, I wanted to share that I love that dropped ceiling and the incredible chandelier.

Sally went first to the buffet so one of us could look after our purses and my camera.  By the time I returned to the table with my food, all that was left on Sally's plate was one of the buns she recommended I also get.  Here she's ready to get another plate of food while I start on my first.  I also got some tofu soup, which I love, but I fail to show it.  Thankfully, I remembered to get our waters in the photos.

I bypassed the egg rolls and went straight to anything and everything shrimp.  I also added fried rice and rice noodles to the mix.  I made up for it on the second plate by getting egg rolls and spring rolls, as well as more shrimp.  I passed on the dessert, although Sally had several plates of jello while I was slowly, SSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY YYYY eating.

When I went to pay (it was my treat), I saw the hand sanitizer.  Later, when we learned about the COVID-19, I told Sally it was a good thing we went to Buffet City when we did because I was NOT going to another buffet until this virus was under control.

It's now time for you to share your drink related post this week.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, magazine images, recipes, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken at any time, and don't even have to be taken this year!

I think a lot of people will be avoiding buffet food as long as this virus is with us. Glad you both got enough to eat, Sally looks VERY happy. The ceiling and chandelier are both beautiful. Happy T Day and have a good and safe week, Valerie

Wow your plate of food was sooooo much better than what I had to choose from-no shrimp for me and I would have filled my plate if there was some.
Yep I thought the same when I got home when I heard of the virus-not good-I now have hand sanatizers around the sinks and I wipe things down if we have people that come indoors-which we don't usually. Happy T wishes hugs Kathy

Shrimp and egg rolls-YES!! But I've never really been a big fan of buffets- toooo much food that I could never manage to try. Such a shame how this new virus is affecting everything from travel, to work places, to restaurants, to schools-(several just closed temporarily in my area!), public events, stocks,...you name it.
Glad you and Sally were both able to enjoy without incident. It certainly looks very clean and tidy. Love that ceiling and chandelier- so thanks for that pic too. Happy T day!

That is sure a lot of food stands. Holy cow. I have never been to a buffet place so big. I think your choices sound good, but I would have had an eggroll too as I love egg rolls. And that is an impressive ceiling and light fixture. But I really like the shelves behind the cashier and all those cool decorations. Good thing you went now that Covid-19 is only getting worse. Luckily not too bad (yet) here in NH. How is it in Wichita? Happy T day my friend. Hugs-Erika

Good idea to pass on buffets for a while, I guess. I've heard places are putting up hand sanitizers for the public and that's a great idea. I feel badly for all the businesses that will be hurting, but that is going to happen as the virus spreads. :(

Glad you had a nice time at the buffet. There are a few things I have not done in 45 years. I never eat at a buffet and I never buy form the bulk foods where there is not a dispenser. I have always been a germaphobe. LOL

WOW.. a fabulous buffet.Great both of you enjoyed it.
I have never been to such a big buffet place yet.And this impressive ceiling, wow! It's so bad for all the businesses now becaus of this virus.

Have a great T-Day!

That really is a wonderful ceiling!
:-) Yes, sloooow.
And, yes, no buffet no more until that darn virus is "under control".
In general I´m "afraid" of these buffets. In our supermarket we have a salad buffet. Unsupervised. I´d never take anything from there, you never know if some weirdo might put something in it, if it´s just for "fun" so the person cannot reach the toilet in time.
Yet people use this every time I go there (maybe I´m a little over-concerned...).

What a fabulous buffet! I would have chosen everything shrimp too as it's always the thing I tend to chose when I go out - yum 😉. I would have been very happy with the sushi too, it's a favourite of mine! Glad you had a good time with Sally and enjoyed your meal! Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x

After reading your post, and in spite of thinking it looks wonderful, I’m with you at least until coronavirus is history. Glad you enjoyed it!

Elizabeth the food does look delicious but we are also avoiding buffet restaurants, well we have only been out for breakfast, no other food out until this is contained.
I really don't like sushi although our eldest DGS loves it
Have a great T day, stay safe

I love buffets, but find there's always far too much for the size of my appetite. I would have gone for the shrimp and Spring rolls too, but I wouldn't fail dessert either as I have a sweet tooth.
That ceiling and chandelier are quite pretty.
Thanks for sharing this lovely meal out with Sally.

What a large selection of food choices! Nobody should go away hungry from that buffet. Nice pic of Sally. Well, it looks like the consensus is no buffet lines for awhile! But glad you enjoyed your outing.

I think it's hard to beat a Chinese buffet, and I hope this is-it-a-pandemic doesn't cause restaurants in general too much loss. Some may go out of business :( I eat so much rice, noodles, and veggies at Chinese buffets that I don't even know what meats are commonly offered lol Happy T Tuesday! Stay Well! :)

The choices for food sound interesting and I loved the plate of food you got! Great decor too! We went to a buffet the other week but maybe wouldn't go this week...or until the virus has died down! It's a pity Sally didn't grab your camera and take a photo of you while she was minding it for you....heee! heee! We noticed when we were shopping this morning at the self service tills an assistant was standing by and spraying and wiping the checkout area with anti bac spray! Of course at the moment you can't find single anti bac gel on the supermarket shelves!! Hugs, Chrisx!

Great place Elizabeth !! I love the ceiling and the chandelier too ! The food may have been delicious, I like rice very much. Happy T-day !
They say that covid-19 is not very dangerous, less than a normal flu, but I personally, I have my doubts. It is spreading worldwide too quickly. I hope we could stop it very soon.
I wish you a very nice day/afternoon, and I send you biig hugs,
Caty

Just say NO to tofu for me, dear Elizabeth.(lol) But the rice and shrimp I would have gone for and it looks quite yummy. I suspect that a lot of the buffet places are suffering right now with the loss of customers. So sad, and I pray this gets under control soon. Here, there seems to be quite a run on toilet paper in case people have to self quarantine. I hope you're doing well, and feeling well. Hugs, RO

I love shrimp, Elizabeth, so your shrimp plate looks perfect to me. Your timing was good as far as the buffet goes. We'll likely try to eat at home more often if we go out at all until the virus is under control.

Happy T-day! Eileen xx

The buffet looks good, but I agree with you about avoiding them until the coronavirus situation is under control. I couldn't believe that comment that Prince William made. I lost all respect for him after that.

I remember the H1N1 crisis.

Today, our Connecticut Governor enacted "civil preparedness and public health emergencies."

And did you hear about this:

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered the state National Guard to New Rochelle, a town in the affluent Westchester County, to enforce a two-week COVID-19 coronavirus quarantine.

The troops will help clean and deliver food in the designated “containment area” in a one-mile (1.6 km) radius around the area where the contagion appears to have originated, until the lockdown is lifted on March 25.

That was quite a buffet -- it looked good. And I'm with you. No buffets till Covid 19 is under control.

I am like you, a little suspicious about buffets. Food hangs around too much and one hopes that everything is being kept at the right temperatures, and that no snotty nose kids have stuck their dirty fingers in etc.
But your plate looked really nice i must admit.
Lovely photo of a smiling Sally.
Sorry for commenting so late. I'm not up to much at the moment.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs (from a distance as I have a cold)
