Splat!

I'm once again at Art Journal Journey joining our host Mia who can be found at Craftartista.  Her theme this month is Make your own background.

I'm sure you can see where (and how) I got the title.  Detail images are below.

I had some old instant coffee that had gotten wet.  I dug the "sludge" out of the jar using a spoon.

Using the straw, I blew into it over the various blobs of coffee.

I had to remember to keep rotating the paper so the blobs were distributed.  Some of the coffee blobs overlapped each other.  I tried to wipe up the excess coffee using a paper (kitchen) towel.

Splat was created using a TH paper doll, the above background, and a computer generated word I outlined in brown pigment ink.

Bleubeard and I look forward to seeing you and your handmade backgrounds soon at Art Journal Journey.

You made some great splats with this instant coffee. I've tried the star blowing with some ink refills before but didn't have very good luck. These splats look almost like falling leaves. I like this a lot, and it's a great entry for Mia's challenge. Have a super Saturday. hugs-Erika

What fun to make! I love using straws (or canned air) for blowing paint or ink around. Never thought of coffee--lol! :)

Creative use of materials, turning coffee sludge into an expressive background really makes the page memorable.
