I thought it was time to update my herb garden. I like to do this at least twice a month.
The rain has finally stopped, so I went outside to assess the damage. Looks like the wind has taken its toll on at least one herb marker.
I planted the new herbs I purchased last week. I get the feeling most of these herbs are for the butterflies, not my culinary pleasure.
I originally purchased these two high end (and high priced) tarps five years ago in an effort to get rid of the bamboo I planted that eventually took over my back yard. I believe the bamboo may be gone, but it appears my late summer sunflowers have encroached and now found a way through this tarp.
My dill seems to be doing well. I start all my dill from seed. The rosemary is from my recent purchase.
I couldn't get a good photo of my comfrey because it was so windy. I think I bought it for the birds and butterflies.
I bought a new bee balm plant this year, not realizing this one overwintered outside and came back to life stronger than ever.
My sweet basil, in the other large white container, isn't doing so well. My peppermint is also thriving after spending the winter inside. Thanks for your visit. I am delighted you stopped by.

Lots and lots of delightful herbs (except the cilantro which I loathe). I hope they do really well for you.
...getting rid of the bamboo is a chore.
You certainly have an extensive crop of herbs. They all looks so green and beautiful.
That bee balm will get amazing flowers later on in the summer. You could plant it in the ground and it will get ginormous if it's happy. And your plants look great. I have thyme planted a couple of places in my yard and it comes back every year. Right now it's flowering too. I'm sure the plants probably liked some rain...we've had so much rain everything is growing great, even those weeds I'd rather not see growing. :) Glad to hear the bamboo is gone, and I guess there are worse things to break through a tarp than sunflowers. Have a super Friday. hugs-Erika
They all look so healthy! I love that you'll have such a wonderful selection for your kitchen. (You won't need to buy from Spice Merchant for awhile!). The plastic mat is a great idea. I might have to do that next year (too late now!)
Our herbs are grown up enough for small harvests now. Basil is usable as a spice, but not yet ready for pesto. We seem to have a lot of dill this year. They all do really add wonderful flavors. I hope you will share the foods that you eat and how you prepare the herbs for the table!
