Winter

This will be my final entry for Neet (whose blog is Hickydorums) at Art Journal Journey.  By now you probably know her theme is It must have wings.  And because Try it on Tuesday's current theme is Things with wings, I will be joining them also.  This entry worked better in my head than on paper.

I named this Winter for lack of a better term.  Detail shots are below.

I started by scraping gold paint (yes, it's gold but doesn't look it in the scan) using an old gift card on 110 lb. cardstock.  I was going for a mottled look.  When dry, I cut an old calendar I had in my stash.  I cut it a bit too close and nearly cut the bird's beak.  I added white lace to both sides of the focal image.  To cover where the two sides crossed, I fussy cut two holly stickers I had in my stash.  Because my hands are so shaky, it was hard to cut the circles to actually look like circles.  Finally I added the computer generated word I outlined in green ink.

Although this is my final entry this month at AJJ, there is still time to enter before we announce a new host and theme on the 1st.  And you have over a week to join TioT with their theme.

Bleubeard and I hope to see you at Art Journal Journey (AJJ) and Try it on Tuesday (TioT).

Before I finish, I want to personally thank Neet for the fantastic job she has done and is doing as a host this month.  Not only has she given us many examples of wings, she has also provided heartfelt and thought provoking comments to each and every person, even though she has been in pain the entire month.  Her thoughtful comments have not been lost on me, and I am sure they have not been lost on all those who participated in AJJ this month.  Thank you, dear friend.

Thank you Elizabeth for this your final entry to my theme 'it must have wings' at Art Journal Journey, especially as you have had both hands more or less out of commission. It shows true dedication.
Isn't it annoying when a scan changes the colour of something, especially if it is a colour you particularly wanted to show off. Never mind, I love the colour which echoes the breast of the bird to my eyes.
I had not noticed the closeness of the beak to the edge had you not told me and it certainly does not detract from the view.
I commend you on fussy cutting the holly stickers, to get such a roundness to the berries takes some doing.
Thank you for my time as a guest host, it has been fun creating and seeing all the work from yourself and othrs.
Hugs, Neet xxx

I think it looks great,, and it has some fun details and texture to it. The crinkled paper and the lace really make the picture stand out more. What a lovely entry for Neet's challenge, and a nice way to wrap up the month. Glad you could join in so much and I hope you had fun making your pages too. hugs-Erika
