It's Friday, which means it's time to join Friday Smiles, hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit Annie and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.
I wasn't sure I would have a camera in time to share Friday Smiles, so I scheduled this post Bleubeard and I call Play time. I even have a few detail shots.
I created this in my Cats altered book. It was created for Elle from Empire of the Cat, our host this month at Art Journal Journey whose theme is cats, books, and/or tea. The focal image was an ad in a magazine. Part of the ad couldn't be removed without cutting off the cat's tail, so I found a way to cover it by creating the words Play time. The backing is a sheet of scrapbook paper from my stash, as was the back of the words.
I hope that made you smile, because I now have more!
What remarkable luck. I was on my way to water my herbs when I saw this butterfly on my table. I thought it would be great to see if my new card was working. I was surprised I was able to return to the house, get my camera, and find the butterfly was still there. With lots of waiting and patience,
it finally opened its wings just as I was taking a photo. Now THAT is truly smile worthy. Note to self: clean lens and get rid of stray hair.
The story behind the camera is my SD card was cracked when the hellion ran into my camera. Although it wasn't broken, it still wouldn't read anything. I gladly got ready to pay for a new SD card because I was not charged even one penny for the diagnosis. However, when I went to pay, I couldn't find my credit card. I freaked. Fortunately, I had cold hard cash I could pay for it. It took forever, but I finally was able to cancel my card. It will be a week to 10 days before I get a new one.
Not knowing where I might have left my card, I called my friend Scott who now lives in another town about 100 miles from me. I told him my problem and he looked in his wallet and told me had my card. Now I wish I hadn't canceled it, but at least I know that no one else had access to it.
And now you know why you haven't heard from me all day today. First to the Spice Merchant, then to the grocery store, then to the camera store and then on the phone trying to cancel my card. I really wish these card companies made it easier when you lose your card, but I guess a lot of it is for your own safety.
Thanks for visiting today. Bleubeard and I would love to see you at Friday Smiles and Art Journal Journey.

I am so glad that you have your camera back in working order and love the flutterby. Sigh on the card front, but at least no-one was spending up a storm on it.
Finding the card would be a massive relief and I know that from experience Lol. Pleased you got your camera back too. Take care with both of them and have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
I am so glad your friend had your card. It is a big worry when you lose one. I lost my TIE card (national identity card), this year and it was a long battle with bureaucracy to get a replacement.
I love the cat page. My little Leo has lost some of his playfulness since he was so ill, but I am hoping he is on the mend now. He is at least eating better.
Lucky you to see the butterfly with open wings. Such a beauty too. I have waited many long ages for one to open, for it just to open and fly away! So well done. Kate x
Glad you got your camera back and in working order! Too bad you had already cancelled when you thought to call Scott. At least it wasn't lost or stolen, thank goodness! All is well! :)
...I love play time!
A local camera repair shop is the real deal! I think our last repair place closed a while back because many manufacturers won’t sell parts except through their own facility. It is really wonderful that your camera is up and working again so quickly.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
What a gorgeous butterfly...well done you for the photo.
Hugs,
Annie x
That's really good news about your camera. And an easy fix too. Hurrah for having your camera back in hand. This is a really cute kitty on your page today. I like the background paper too. Don't ask me why it just pops out at me.
And nice butterfly photos too. You did get lucky being able to go inside, get your camera and come back and have it there. And it even opened its wings for you. Nice.
I thought I lost my credit card earlier this summer. I did actually drop it while in Costco, and luckily a good person turned it in so when I went to the desk, they had it. But boy was I panicked, so I know exactly how you felt.
I hope this week ends in a good way for you, now that the camera is fixed and the credit card is found. And hopefully the new one is in the mail too. hugs-Erika
The cat journal is a pleaser. Quill would be happy to play with that feather toy. Calli would too, but if Quill saw her playing he would run over and take it away from her. Wonderful that the butterfly posed and spread its wings so you could take a picture.
That is the sweetest cat cover!
We are saying farewell to the butterflies here!
I wish Lizzie still liked to play. You've had one heck of an awful week. I hope things perk up, especially with the credit card.
Great pics of the butterfly, glad it was the only the card that was broken! If I tell that you that I stubbed my toe against the door frame and said a lot of bad words, would that make you smile? Hugs, Valerie
I'm glad your camera turned out not to be broken. And that your cc wasn't stolen. A good news week :) and such great shots of the little flitter :)
First thought...I need a new toy head for my cat. She destroyed all the feathers!
Second thought...I didn't realize that was a hair, I though you had a marble table top. LOL
Third thought...I should scrap book for my pets! Though I never for my kids...does that make me a bad mom?
Fourth thought...sorry about the card hassle. That is a pain, but you're right, better safe than sorry.
Nice work!
If we all played more, it a good chance we would be as crabby.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.
Just checking in, Your cat page is great, very colorful, Glad all the other issues were cleared up and you and Bleubeard are carrying on.
very sweet the play time page!
Wonderful the butterfly photos!
Have a good weekend, hug Elke
Cute kitty page, at any minute you can see he will pounce on that toy. Glad you got the camera fixed, or in process of fixing. I did suggest that maybe the SD had been knocked loose but I never expected it to be cracked! That must have been some bump from that kid! Thanks for joining me for the Books, Cats & Tea September theme at Art Journal Journey this month. Happy Journalling! Elle xx
