T Stands For High Tea

Please join me in my dining room for T Tuesday.

It is a very British day in T Tuesday world today.  The teas you see are English Breakfast, London, and English Afternoon.

You can see the envelope came from PBS Kansas, my local public broadcasting station.

I love the tins that house the loose leaf tea.  From left, the old traditional pay phone booth (now mostly used for other purposes, like little libraries, etc), the double decker bus, and the Royal mail box.

That leads me to the invitation.  This is my invitation to High Tea on September 9 at Botanica, the Wichita Gardens.

I can bring one special guest and my favorite tea cup.  Sorry, I am NOT a hat person, but I know lots of women wear them to this semi-formal event.

I thought I would show all sides of the London double decker

and a close up of the Royal mailbox.

I'm going to drink English Afternoon Tea.  After all, it is afternoon.

I'm going to jump on my soapbox now.  Several people who live in the states have asked what Passport is.  Passport is a streaming service where you can watch nearly every show that has been on PBS in the past.  That includes all the Ken Burns documentaries, All Creatures Great and Small, The Midwife, and if you love Morse, you can catch up on all the Morse, Lewis, and Endeavor films.  Like Hulu and Netflix, it is streaming.  Annual donation is $75.00 (USD).  Unlike Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock, BritBox, Acorn, Prime, Roku, and Netflix, this is a donation, not a membership.  That means you can use your donation as a tax deduction under the full extent of the law, which you can NEVER do with the other streaming services.

Edit: I forgot to mention that PBS Kansas offers 10 Brit Club shows.  One show for $75.00 (USD), but Bleubeard and I support all 10 shows.  If you live in south central Kansas, look for our names (Bleubeard and Dr. Elizabeth) before and after all 10 Brit Club shows.

it's time to share your own drink related post.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, handmade cards, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, a favorite mug, cup and saucer, teapot, coffee pot, a wine glass, or even a bag of coffee or tin of tea. Regardless, please join us by linking below.  Bleubeard and I will gladly visit, as will other T participants.  Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.  Please remember to visit your fellow T participants.

Lots of lovely souvenirs from my home town.I don't keep any here, it would just make me home sick. Have fun at your high tea in September, sounds like fun. Happy T Day, Valerie

Your tea cans are really neat. That sounds like a great event from your local PBS station.
Thanks for hosting the tea party.

I love those little tins!
I have Passport but I can't get all the old episodes of everything. For example, can only get the last few seasons of Call The Midwife the rest of the seasons have a written summary! I love PBS and have missed it since I don't get broadcast TV anymore (8 years now) and can't afford cable TV to get it (antennas don't work in this building like the last building I lived in and so it was either internet or cable for me). PBS has the worst website ever to navigate, usually forgets I am a member, and bumps me round in circles to get back in. Sometimes I can't even get back in. If I didn't love the programming so much I would quit donating, to be honest. I rarely feel like fighting with the website to watch anything on there but I keep the monthly donation going because it is a donation and I always loved PBS when I could get it.

Your tea cans are amazing. We watch a lot of PBS. Before I lost my buisness to covid I did donate to PBS. I never joined the Passport though. I love wearing hats, formal or for everyday. Have a nice evening.

I love your table setting for high tea. You have a fun collection of British tea paraphernalia. I'm assuming you've been before you've mentioned many of the women wearing hats. I'm sure they must serve some fun food, perhaps British foods? I hope when you go you take some photos to share with us. Have a great T day. hugs-Erika

Wow, Elizabeth, this is so cool! Beautiful! Fun! (Also love the sunflowers).
Early morning here. A teabag is soon landing on my Koala-teabag-holder. Say it´s half-British? Cheers to that?

Passport. Ingo has to get his so we can visit Perth.
Yours is an interesting system.
We don´t use streaming services as they are all translated to German (as far as I know). I can watch free old TV then - or DVDs.
"The old man of Europe" still lives behind a rock!
We lost the Dipl.-Ing. thanks to ex-chancellor Merkel (I feel like really old, I am one of the last!) and "Made in Germany" - where the British made fun of and it turned into a sign for quality back after WWII - it will mean "crap" soon, I reckon.
Rant over - to teas! I´ll have a fancy one. Yogi-Chocolate... with milk (please don´t yell at me)

Hi Elizabeth, love those tins for the Tea, we called the. A phone Box! Haha, yes they are used for Libraries and all sorts of stuff nowadays. How lovely to be invited to tea, we had a lovely afternoon drinking tea and eating scones to celebrate the Coronation of Kong Charles.
We loved watching Endeavour more than Morse and Lewis although we enjoyed both, what a great streaming service, good price too, or I should say donation.
Happy T Day

What a lovely gift with your invitation. The tea caddies are really cute, and very British.
How exciting! I remember you went to the tea party last year and met a famous British actor. Will you be taking Sally or one of your men friends? (Scot?)
I'm sure we will read all about it when the time comes.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

Dear Elizabeth, these are beautiful tea tins. I only once had a money box in the shape of a London phone box, but I gave it to a friend who set up a "LONDON Room" in her house. It fit better there ;-))
The invitation to high tea sounds wonderful!
Have a good time - thanks for your sweet comment on my blog!
All the best and Happy T-Day!

I love the tea tins and the idea of high tea. I know you're looking forward to it. I'd be wearing a hat ;) Have you considered a fascinator maybe? Or a headband with a few flowers attached?

I'm excited and hope you get a chance to post table photos and maybe pics of a few hats.

Happy T Tuesday

I love the tea tins, of course I would prefer them without tea in. How lovely that invitation looks. I don't like hats either but I might be tempted to turn up in one and take it off when I had been there for a little while. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it, hugs, Chrisx
