Friday Smiles 517 meets Friday Face Off mostly in the garden

It's time to join Friday Face Off and Friday Smiles.

As I was leaving this morning (Thursday), I thought I saw movement in one of the trees.  Obviously not this one, because it is not doing well.

By this time the movement had shifted to the hated fence my neighbor to the north built to block my view of even the street. The bird was walking along the fence, so the photo wasn't the best in the world.

Maybe if it would let me focus before it moved, I might get a good shot of whatever it was.

I bet David will know what kind of bird this is.

Finally!  A FACE!!  This is for Nicole's Friday Face Off.  My internet is running slower than slow, so I'm linking this for the moment.  I'll also link to Friday Smiles as soon as I get the post finished.

It's now time to join Friday Smiles, hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit Annie and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.

Since many of my herbs I tried to overwinter inside died and so many I purchased on Herb Day died because of my arm and hand, I bought a few more, this time hoping I could get them transferred before they died.

Some of these look healthier than the ones I purchased on Herb Day.

Note how far apart all my pots are.  It makes it very difficult to water without losing a lot of water.

An even wider view.

In fact, I couldn't get all the pots in a single shot.

I came up with a plan and here it is!  I'll show more next week because I am having a terrible time getting my internet to work well.

Here are a couple of funnies:

Lovely new herbs. I hope these ones make it to your table eventually. Boy, you have a lot of pots. Now they are all together in one spot. That must be easier for the watering.
I loved the funnies, and had me giggling quietly ( as my friend is still asleep and I don’t want to wake her)
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca

I hope these herbs survive.
Thanks for the funnies - and the bird ambling along the fence line.

Hi Elizabeth. Apparently your bird is a Common Grackle. What beautiful colours on its plumage.
I hope your herbs do better this year. Like you I have lots of pots to water and it takes time, and care if I am not to waste too much water, but in this weather it has to be done every few days. I am thinking of looking into an automatic system on a timer.
The Pumpkin spice made me smile! Kate x

Love the bird photos. David knows everything! The funnies ARE GOOD; TOO. I like the Rudolph one best! My computer has been playing up all week, and I worked on it for 5 hours yesterday - and now it's running smoothly. Let's hope it stays so! Hugs, Valerie

...Elizabeth, your grackle sure is a shiny fellow! And Hillside Feed and Seed sure isn't bashful when it comes to pricing a tiny pot of herbs. Have a wonderful weekend.

Your new herbs look fab....I hope they grow well for you. I don't know what the bird was but what wonderful iridescent colours....looks almost the shape of a magpie.

Good luck with the new potted herbs! Our dill plant has died but all our others seem to be doing ok, and we are using many of them already. My current idea is that ALL herbs taste good in a salad!

I hope your herbs do well. So far the only thing I have been able to grow is green onions. And for those, I started them from some I bought at the grocery.

The new herbs look healthy. I know they will do well. I had to get a nozzle for my hose that I could easily turn off while going from one garden area to the next. Your gareden area looks so nice. Wonderful faces for FFO thank you for joining in and have a very nice weekend.

Great photo of the bird, it's lovely. You might think they would be more helpful and stand still for you but at least it didn't just fly off. Your plants are looking healthy, surprised the bird didn't help himself to some of it. Interesting funnies today. How true is the Politician funny, we have lots of those over here. I am beginning to think you cannot trust any of them! Take care and have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx

I think your bird is a Grackle, but let's wait what David says - he truly is the expert.
You're off to a good start with your herbs and I hope you will be able to use them in your cooking. Have a lovely weekend.

Sad with that fence. At least you got that cute visitor.
Fingers and toes crossed for your herbs. My basil died, maybe it got too much sun...
Santa- ha! Now we know the truth ;-)

What a beautiful bird with that wonderful shimmering blue... I looked it up on Wikipedia :-) we don't have a grackle...
You got him in front of the camera nicely.
I wish you every success with your herbs in the garden.
Many greetings from Viola
