It's Wednesday and I am here to join Rain for her art and dinner date. But first, I want to get a bit political. Several people reminded me it's my blog and my opinions and I should be proud of my beliefs. I'll begin with a message primarily for my readers in the states.
First, I have a message for all Wyoming Republicans. Grow a backbone. Liz Cheney has. When you go to the polls on Tuesday, don't throw her under the bus, but make sure she wins her primary. Some say she's no longer a conservative, but a member of "the fascist liberal left." Cheney doesn't have a liberal bone in her body, or even in a fingernail or eyelash. Check her voting record. What Cheney DID do was, after being chosen by Nancy Pelosi to serve on the committee, put her country ahead of her political career by serving as co-chair of the January 6 Committee. Now it's time for all you Republicans to do the same.
For those who don't know, House Republicans voted to remove Cheney from leadership in May, 2021. Now she is fighting to keep her seat in the House. She didn't ask for the job, but was called to serve, which is what any loyal God-fearing American would do.
Second, I will be by on Wednesday to visit those who link to Rain's TADD that day. Then instead of visiting every day like I did two weeks ago, I will check the links again the following Monday and visit all those who link later in the week.

"Visiting Santa
was always the highlight of my Christmas holiday."
I started by spritzing 110 lb. cardstock with my handmade shimmering mists. I cut the image from a monthly magazine, then laid it over the top of Christmas tartan. I computer generated the sentiment and added it above and below the focal image.
The definition of tuna salad is "tuna and mayo." According to Wikipedia "Tuna salad starts with a blend of two main ingredients: tuna and mayonnaise." I can't eat mayo. It makes me violently ill. I have been substituting Ranch dressing for mayo, but I would love to hear any alternatives you foodies might have to offer. Any and all vegetarian suggestions will be considered. Hello sweet Elizabeth! I have been doing tuna with avocado and chopped eggs and a little chipolti powder and black pepper. If your avocado is soft enough, the mixture is a little creamy and you don't miss the mayo (at least I don't). I do the same with chicken too. Love the vintage Christmas page too. The plaid and the sweet girl's face are so eye-catching. The Santa visit is/was a magical thing. Got to love her bangs too - I had bangs like that a few times.
Definitely you should share your political views on your blog I hate to admit that I have not tuned into any of the political stuff for the last few years - it was making my blood pressure increase with that and work and the way the world was with covid. I probably need to start paying attention again as apathy is what allows crazy stuff to happen.
Hi Elizabeth, your 'rant' is very necessary.I don't like the Republicans who only do what Trump says. Glad you are enjoying your tuna sandwiches. I once got a very bad food poisoning after eating tuna, had to be hospitalized, and haven't eaten it since then. Hugs, Valerie
That rant was needed. Liz Cheney is indeed conservative, but at least you can respect her for doing the right thing. The Republican party is in such turmoil right now, and many politicians of both parties are just in it for the votes and say one thing at one moment and something else at another. I don't think Cheney is doing that but speaking up for what is right in America, and I do respect that about her.
I do like your When We Were Young page also. I didn't like to visit Santa, but it was such a part of growing up. I remember my mom taking us to the big department store. And then me getting nervous while waiting in line. Smile. I do like your page and you found a great photo to use.
And finally, I have only had tuna with mayo or miracle whip. I don't like a lot of sauce, so I go very light. It is practically straight tuna when I make it. I bet it would taste good with ranch dressing though. Give it a little zing. Otherwise I can't give you any other suggestions. I haven't had tuna in a long time so maybe I need to make a tuna melt for supper tonight. Smile.

Some say one has to keep politics and religion out of the blog, but I don't mind you voicing your opinions at all. (To be honest, I don't know much about American politics, so it goes over my head anyway).
I never visited Santa as we didn't have him in Holland, but we had Sinterklaas, and I do have a photo of me as a child sitting on his knee. I don't remember being afraid. (I was a good kid).
Tuna-mayo is delicious, but I don't like mayonaise so I make it with thick Greek yoghurt and a dash of vinegar and seasoning to taste. (We don't have Ranch dressing. I have no idea what that would taste like).

This is what is America was founded on freedoms one of them being free speech-sadly there are too many that attack those that don't agree with them but these are our blogs so we have the freedom to express ourselves.
I love your page for theme-that brings back long ago memories. I love tuna salad my husband won't touch tuna though haha so it makes a good evening snack for me.

Well........... I keep political views and religion off my blog and i do not go to other's blogs to view the same.... With that being said it is your blog to do as you wish.. I can easily over look those posts or paragraphs and read what i enjoy about your blog.

I'am the only one in the house that likes tuna. I use light mayo and not too much with some chopped up onions and though i don't often have it in the house ... some sweet pickle relish added.. YUM... I see someone else suggested yogurt and that would have been my suggestion.. Hugs! deb
Cute, nostalgic page that would make a great Christmas card. I'm not a fan of mayo so I wave the jar over my tuna when I make tuna salad. Mayo wasn't an item in my house growing up. Ma used to buy tonno (imported tuna from Italy) packed in olive oil. So good! I think I saw in the mayo aisle vegan mayo, but I don't know what the ingredients are.
Great page Elizabeth. That's a sweet memory. I used to love a visit to Santa, and also enjoyed taking my children too.
Would sour cream be an alternative to mayo? Would that be considered vegetarian? We also have salad cream in the uk, do you have that?

Tuna has mayo, yes, but there's a little cafe here that uses mustard instead. It's quite tasty. In my tuna salad at home I also put in chopped boiled egg and sweet pickle relish.

First of all apologies for not calling in so often, I have a coffee close by and have really enjoyed my catch up. One day at a time has been my mantra for quite a while and more so these days.

As for your content, its you blog and you are entitled to opinions as we all are. On the subject of the Mayo, I think I would be tempted to try the yogurt with a little mustard stirred into it.

I can eat mayo. But a nice variation is tuna, lemon or lime juice, & hot sauce. (careful with the hot sauce just a tad) & thinly sliced olives.

I agree with your comments on Liz Chaney and anyone with a brain would realize what courage it took for her to stand up to the other so called conservatives and do what was right for our country. That is what they are there for, after all, though it is clear to me that most have forgotten about "Country" and are more concerned about "Me" and "Power". I get really angry when I see what is going on and am so grateful my parents aren't here to see what has come of this country, Hopefully there are enough citizens who care about democracy to set these people straight by voting them out!
So enough said, You were quite a cutie as a child and lucky to get to sit on Santa's lap. I don't remember ever sitting on Santa's lap, but I do remember putting my kids on his lap so it must have something to do with the timing, right? As for your Tuna Salad ... I like nwilliams6 idea of using avocado. I don't have a problem with mayo, but avocado sounds even better to me and I am going to try it out. Your page is super cute! When I grew up in Germany there was no Santa anywhere on whose lap you could sit or would take the time to talk to kids. On December 6th, Nikolaus (St. Nick who I think is the same guy?) used to come during the night to bring some sweets to the kids - you had to put out a boot or shoe for that, and it was filled the next morning. On Christmas, Christkind (literally "Christ child") would come and bring the presents.
Visiting Santa.....childhood memories :) Good ones.

My tuna is mixed with miracle whip, mustard, boiled egg, dill pickles, and onion on Health Nut bread with lettuce. During the last 3 months of my pregnancy with my son I ate a large salad of all of that with no bread and added tomatoes, it was the only thing I could handle along with green grapes for dessert... lol
Hi Elizabeth, I make my own vegan mayo using tofu!
A tablespoon or so of sour cream (if you are ovo-lacto) can substitute for the mayo. I agree with the one who said "hot sauce" as an addition also a small bit of brown mustard is one of my additions.
FYI, you can free motion quilt without having feed dogs that lower. Just use painters tape and put a piece of cardstock/index card over the feed dogs and have a hole cut out for the needle. Be sure to burnish the edges of the tape so it stays securely in place. Start by practicing on something you don't want to keep. It does take some practice to get good at it.

Amen to your views!!! Agree! This is a blind following of one man with a personal agenda for power IMHO and when anyone points out the criminal activity they are punished. It would be controlled by going to popular vote. Love your pic of seeing Santa. Tuna.... I often include some yogurt with all mayo based salads but don't know how that would do with tuna. Growing up I was on a diet all of high school years and ate tuna made with, ack, mustard. Slow metabolism on my part, that even activity and youth couldn't handle so it was a low calorie choice at every meal. Vegan people might have alternatives, what about coconut oil in some form?
