Monday Murals: Sound of Summer

It's Sunday, which means it's time once again to join Sami at Sami's Colourful World and her Monday Murals.  Even though it's still Sunday in my world, please be aware that Sami's mural link goes live at 11:01 a.m. my time today.

This mural is called Sound of Summer.  I believe it is intended to represent a cicada.

I have some detail shots:

This mural was created by Delilah Reed and Maggie Gilmore in 2016.

It can be found on a door at 2300 East Douglas in Wichita, Kansas (USA).

If you enjoy murals from around the world, please don't forget to visit Monday Murals at Sami's Colourful World.  Thanks for stopping by this weekend. Bleubeard and I are delighted you could join us in our quest to find murals each week.

Definitely a cicada - and smile worthy. Thank you.

Great mural. No idea, if I wanted to come near, though! ;-)
I love their sound, it´s the true sound of a great summer (sadly not here in the German city).

Hurrah, you must be back online. That is good news. This fly is very well done. The wings look like they are about to lift this bug off the door. Maybe flies aren't the most exciting, but I still like it. And I also want to say it was great catching up with you last week too. hugs-Erika

Lots of detail and color on this one. I like it! And it seems smart to brighten up a door with some colorful art. It's a manageable way to enjoy and afford a mural at a business. Nice idea.

It's nice to see an appreciation of the cicada. There was one on our front door the other day and another on our back window. I love the sound :)

...this isn't a favorite critter for me, but perhaps my fish would things differently!

Hate real bugs but this is gorgeous. Great colours.

I really like this one!

Wouldn't it be cool if the artist also rigged up a sound machine of the cicadas that was motion detected?

Such an unusual choice for the door. They must be a fan of the sounds the cicadas make.

They are noisy bugs :)

Not what I’d choose for my door but it is beautifully done.

That's a very cool door. It works so well with that wall; it gets all the attention.
