At the beach

Today I'm joining Chris at Pearshapedcrafting with her When We Were Young theme.  She is our host this month at Art Journal Journey

I'm reminiscing about joining my friends at the beach.  Apologies for the photo.  The focal image was highly textured.

I hope this is a marginally better photo.

No matter where I position the camera, I can't get rid of that textured finish on the image.  Of course, this looks like the perfect time spent with friends at the beach.

"I have fond memories of playing on the beach with my friends."

For this page, I started with two colors of Staz-on reinkers and 91% isopropyl alcohol.  I spread the colors on the page, mixing them a bit where they met.  I then added the focal image, after which I added the sea shells to two corners using E6000.  Finally, I computer generated the words and added them using a glue stick.  If only this sentiment were true.  Neither Bleubeard nor I have ever spent time with friends on a beach.  Heck, I didn't even have a sand pile when I was a child!  It's fun to dream, though.

I'm delighted you chose to spend a bit of time with Bleubeard and me today.  We hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on When We Were Young.

My "friends" at the beach was my little Brother - but I still have fond memories of that (we´re 5 1/2 years apart and as kids that´s a lot).

Nice scenes.
Sad to you it is but a dream (so far!!!).

Elizabeth! Do you mean you have NEVER been to the beach...? Ever? Or just not as a child playing with friends..? I was fortunate enough to spend every Summer of my childhood at the beach.. My visits as an adult are very sporadic and many years in between visits.. but after so long the Ocean does call my name and i NEED the sand between my toes... If you haven't been i hope you get to go.. Hugs! deb

I still like your page even if you never hung out at the beach as a kid. I like the image you used. And it makes a fun page for Chris’ challenge. Hope your week is going well. Hugs Erika

loving your page. Back in the early '70s I lived on the beach in North Carolina for awhile at Wrightsville Beach-a great experience Haven't seen the ocean since.

I am lucky to have those memories, although it was mainly with cousins, having been taken to the seaside by uncles' cars. We never had a car. I wish you could have had those real memories dear Elizabeth but I'm sure there were lots of things that I would have liked that you did do! Thanks so much for sharing this dream for my AJJ theme, Hugs, Chrisx

That's such a perfect image of the imagined beach of my childhood before I ever saw any type of beach at all. In my experience now are many beaches but I'm not sure I've ever seen one just like that, with children, umbrellas, sand castles, rolling waves, a distant lighthouse and no grownups at all.

The picture is beautiful, dear Elizabeth, but like you, I have no real memories of beach and sand games with friends. I was never allowed to stay in the sun for long because of my red hair and fair skin. So when we went to a beach, I was in the water, and after that I was somewhere in the shade again, but not on the beach ;-) However, I had a sandbox in my grandma's garden. And I'm already looking forward to when my grandson is old enough to play with him in a sandbox :-)
All the best,
Traude

What a wonderful photo. I like the way you added the sea shells. And I like it even though you didn't spend time at the beach as a child.

Being an only child and living far enough from the beach I don't have the same memories as you but my parents did take me to beaches and dad working on the railway meant we did quite a bit of travelling around Scotland.
I certainly made up for it when I got older and had my own child - loved taking him to the beach and building sand castles.
Loved you page, a fabulous picture and I do like how you displayed the shells with it.
Hugs, Neet xx
