Birds and Roses

Matilde of Craftowanie is our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  By now you may know her theme is Birds

I call this Birds and Roses.  I have a few detail images to share, too.

I started by spritzing one of my handmade shimmering mists onto 110 lb cardstock.  Next, I sewed a piece of pale pink lace along the length of the cardstock.  I fussy cut the birds from a get well card and sewed it to the cardstock.  I added the embossed roses, which were high end stickers from a well known company.  However, the stickers were old and didn't stick well, which meant I had to sew them to the page.  As you can see, I'm having trouble with my tension on the variegated thread which I can't seem to correct.  I switched to red thread for the bobbin, which I hoped would compliment the top thread.

Bleubeard and I are delighted you dropped by today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey where the theme this month is Birds.

Those chickadees are so sweet. I love chickadees because even if they aren't the most heart stopping bird beauties, they are very interactive for wild birds. And I have some that love my roses this spring too, so your page is perfect. And perfect for Matilde's challenge too. hugs-Erika

So pretty. I think your page would make an elegant tablecloth print.

I love how you stitched the images to this beautiful page, it must have taken you quite a while to create this awesome piece.

Such a pretty page Elizabeth. It reminds me of a Victorian card with its rosebud type background and the birds sitting on a piece of lace.
I cannot believe how good you are with a sewing machine - I would never dare attempt to add that shape with a sewing machine. Hats of to you! I love the rose and it looks lovely to me.
