T Stands For Christmas

On Christmas, Scott had a good idea.  He reminded me how I got out the Christmas plates, bowls, etc. and placed all the food in fancy glass or Christmas dishes on Thanksgiving.  He reminded me how long it took me to wash all the dishes, etc. after the meal and he didn't want to see me go through that again this meal.  He insisted we were going to eat on paper plates and we were going to not have to transfer food to other containers afterward.  I wasn't as happy about it until the meal was over and I realized I didn't have a big mess to wash and clean afterward.

Scott set the table and put everything in place while I cleaned up.

On the table are green bean casserole, baked potato, deviled eggs, Scott's pumpkin bread, my "famous" baked beans, ham and cheese plate, Brussels sprouts, various dips, and various crackers.  The pumpkin pie was cooling in the kitchen.  Unfortunately, I don't see a drink in sight.

Thankfully, I have more eggnog, which will have to take the place of coffee that both of us were drinking Christmas.

It's now time to share your own drink inspired post this week.  Your drink related post can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, handmade cards, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and definitely not just this year.

That Scott had a great idea! All we did was dishes over the week our family was here. True, we have a dishwasher, and it worked hard, but still a lot of dishes, pots and pans to do by hand. I am not used to three meals a day for 7 people! LOL Deviled eggs is Larry's favorite, in fact your whole meal sounds delicious! Happy T Day!

Great that you didn't let yourself be a slave to your possessions! Your dinner looks very good. I'd like some eggnog -- somehow we never had any over the holidays, though we ate and drank lots of good things, and all cooked for each other.

My drink this week is the Japanese rice wine, sake.

Scott is a practical man, I can see that. And he cares for you, because he doesn't want you to have to do all that work, but just enjoy the day (and the meal). There was a lot on the table. Did you eat it all? The devilled eggs look very nice as does Scott's pumpkin bread. A jacket potato is always a good idea. What a lovely meal!
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

SO glad that you were able to share a Christmas meal with Scott. It looks and sounds delicious. I would definitely go for the baked beans and pumpkin bread. No clean up sounds delightful, although I understand the desire for a fancier than normal table. Glad that you were able to relax after the meal was over.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

It sounds like a yummy but low fuss meal. I know what you mean about using nice dishes, but I can also see Scott's point of how easy it would be after dinner. I'm glad you didn't have lots of dishes to do, and I'm glad you had Scott for dinner. Sounds festive in a casual way, but a good way. And I hope your T day is a good day also. Hugs-Erika

A wonderful looking warm and cozy meal without the fuss. We all need that from time to time. And there are some really nice looking paper plates and things available now for cheap-win, win! We don't have a dishwasher-never did, but I do much washing as I go so there isn't so much at the end of the meal. AND, my hubby always helps, and when our son and DIL are with us they help too:)
Glad to see you're internet is working again. Happy T day!

Like you I like to have a nicely set table, but I can also see Scott's side and after the meal it was certainly lovely that you could relax and not spend much time in the kitchen cleaning up. Baked potatoes sound good and so do the Brussels sproyta and green bean casserole - actually everything is delicious. Happy T day, Elizabeth!

So, you´re the dishwasher, too, huh.
Paper plates - good idea! And you can have a variety for a cheap price.

LOL, once I brought food on a paper plate to my W. He wanted to give it back. Next I visited it still sat there and was a container for pens and paper (it was a red one with white dots).

Hmmmmm, baked beans! And Brussels Sprouts, yum!
I´ve never seen eggnog like that here, how sad.

Thanks for linking me! I hate all the washing-up after a meal, so paper plates were a good idea! Glad you enjoyed your meal, and happy T ay with egg-nog! Hugs, Valerie

It is a struggle for me too - use the cherished dishes or save time. These days, I usually pick save time. Great looking food, and I love egg-nog! Looks like a lovely time, Elizabeth. Happy T-day!

Paper plates are great, and I use paper plates all the time for family meals. I don't have a dishwasher anymore so it helps keep the clean up to a minimum. I even found Christmas decorated paper plates and napkins. When the Eldest was visiting for our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner, I did use the Spode Christmas plates, but all other meals were served on paper plates. Happy T Day

Food tastes just as good on disposable plates! Good decision. 😁

There's something to be said for less cleanup. How thoughtful of him! The meal sounds like something I'd enjoy, but I'll take the coffee and leave the eggnog for y'all ;)

Happy T Tuesday!

That certainly beats washing all the dishes! Glad your internet is fixed, I did wonder what happened last Tuesday. I haven't been online myself since then so didn't know you had problems. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

Wow, that Christmas meal looks really good! Happy T-day! It's a good idea to use paper plates so we don't have to wash the dishes. I have never had an eggnog, and I am curious about what it tastes like.
I wish you a very happy Wednesday dear Elizabeth! and I send big hugs,

Your Christmas dinner looks delicious. I don't think I could have done store containers and paper plates, though. I love the Christmas dishes too much and it's such a short season. They are such a constant reminder of Christmases past, my cousins and aunts in the kitchen with my mom, setting the table. Even now, the only thing I mind cleaning up are the cooking pans. When I wash mom's cut glass bowl, I smile and the same with the plates. It reminds me of doing dishes at my aunt Iris' house. But that said, too many dishes on a holiday is a bit of a pain, so I'm glad it was the right choice and you could well enjoy Christmas! (All that said, I do have paper plates in the house and use them when I feel exceptionally lazy! LIke, maybe tonight!)

The festive meal you shared looks delicious and what a brilliant idea to save doing washing up chores afterwards when you could sit, relax and enjoy a nice drink.
