Friday Smiles 405: Just a few funnies and Rain's Thursday Art Date

It's Friday, which means it's time to join Annie (at A Stitch in Time) along with the wonderful ladies at Friday Smiles.

It's been a busy week here at my house.  I am SO far behind, I may never catch up.  However, I found some cute jokes on the internet that had me laughing. I decided to share them with you.  But first, I want to tell you I don't normally share two totally different blog posts at one time.  However, as I said, I'm so far behind, I decided to also share Rain's weekly Thursday Art Date.  This week, the theme is Board Games and Game Night.  I'll start with the Friday Smiles because they put me in a good mood.

I suspect many of us feel this way, at least at times.

This may need some explaining to my international readers.  The guy who makes and sells My Pillow (the ads are everywhere on U.S. tv), is a huge contributor to, and advocate for, Trump.  These are but a fraction of the troops who were sent in to protect the Capitol just prior to President Biden's inauguration.

Here in the states, we are having trouble getting vaccine to the masses.  I laughed when I saw this.  From the spelling of "immunised," this appears to be a British joke.  That's why I'm sure everyone is familiar with Amazon (grin).

Now for my contribution to Rain's weekly Thursday Art Date.  This week, the theme is Board Games and Game Night.  I only have one contribution this week.  My apologies because these photos were taken with my old, worthless camera.

Back in 2008, I was in a 12 Gifts of Christmas swap.  This was my contribution.  I began with Altoid tins that I "cooked" in my chiminea, then colored with alcohol inks. Next, I dyed the ribbon which was originally white and added the Life game piece. I put my name on the back, added some baling wire, and attached the two wire ends using a plastic bingo chip.

This is a closeup of one front.

The insides were all similar. I started with Yahtzee score sheets for the background on the left side, then added a poker chip. On the right, I used cards from a Crazy 8 game and two chess pieces. The sentiment carries over from the word "Life" on the front and reads: "It's not just a game.

I'm not sure you can see them any better in the closer photo, but I numbered them.

It appears I missed one.

I seem to have missed all the ones on the edges, but you get the picture (or not)!

Bleubeard remembers when I made these.  He was just a young boy and there was no Squiggles to contend with.  He asked if we could go back to those days.  I explained that time only travels in one direction and what was past was prologue.  The altoid tins were created by me and photographed by me.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by.  I am truly grateful to you, my friends, followers, readers, and lurkers for visiting.  I appreciate your visit, even though I may not say it often enough.  Please also join me at Rain's Thursday Art Date and Friday Smiles.  And whatever you do, please don't forget to start your weekend off right with a few Friday Smiles of your own.  And remember, if you would like to play along, Annie and Rain would love to have you join us.

Good morning from a chilly but dry Lancashire
I’ve seen some of your cartoons before but they still made me smile.
And I think your Tim’s are wonderful. I’ve done a few tin displays myself and given them as gifts.
It’s genius to do an advent set.
Have a safe and lovely weeks

Love the funnies - and here in Australia I would spell immunised that way too.
And your art is beautiful.

I loved the joke about Amazon. This would solve the whole thing right there.
Cooking the tins? - your ingenuity knows no bounds. I'm not sure if they were then used in an actual game or not but as art creations they look fascinating.
Did Bleubeard understand about Time after your concise explanation? or was he rolling his eyes?
I've sent you an email, Elizabeth. Thought I would tell you here in case you don't get to your emails often.
Love,
Sheila

What a week. We did watch some of the news from your end and listened to Trump give his speech and that was enough, sadly he believes he can make a comeback! The funny on the other hand about Amazon just cracked me up it's brilliant! I was just showing this to hubby and he said it will be okay if you're in otherwise they will leave it in you're wheelie bin or porch! He's probably right. I love the tins and I wish Bleubeards idea of going back in time was possible though actually maybe not! Sending hugs and Angela xXx

Hooray ~ It's Friday! Great swap contribution and a fun take on the theme of games. My 2021 didn't start out to wonderfully, so there's more reality then funny in the first ~ it's slowly looking up now. Enjoy your weekend! Love, Karen#33

Unique and quite wonderful. And thanks for the humour too. I'm not sure I want to pass on 2021. Looks like things might start to pick up after all. Two days without Trump has been a great start!

...that My Pillow dude, what an embarrassment.

Ditto everyone's comments on the Pillow Guy. What cool tins!

I remember thinking the MyPillow ads were creepy back when I first saw them. To know trump had a special meeting with him? That they might've discussed martial law? Pathetic. I see Felix the Crafty Cat's comment above, and I share the thought that trump could make a comeback. He promised as much in his good-bye video. If the GOP doesn't convict him and ban him I'm thinking he could be their nominee again.

Those tins are delightful!

Our poor pitiful world is full of jokes mixed up with reality. I actually read somewhere serious that amazon had volunteered to help distribute the vaccine (though I think that meant deliver it via their trucks, not actually inject it into arms). Maybe someone read this meme and got mixed up. Or vice-versa. Topsy turvy world!

Oh LOL ... your three openers made my day. I don't know where you find this kind of humor, but I want some. It is hard to find things to laugh about ... though I have to say, it is much easier to smile since Wednesday :)

Your 12 Gifts of Christmas are so clever and awesome ... leave it to you to come up with such a unique idea and then really pull it off. Impressive, my friend. So enjoy 2021, we are off on a wonderful, albeit bumpy, ride. I feel hope for the first time in years (four years to be exact). Stay well and tell Bluebeard, we don't have to go back in time, but it would be nice if we could put a halt to the aging process :)

LOL at that Amazon funny Elizabeth!!! Truth in the humour! Thanks for joining in, and I think doubling up posts is just fine! I only post once a week usually and I double/triple things up!
I absolutely LOVE your art this week. That is the most creative thing I've seen to date! Wow! You put a lot of thought and work into that. Very cool that you included Crazy 8's...that was a favourite card game as a kid! I love this post!!!
By the way, I told Leo that he has a doppelganger named Bleubeard. He just brushed it off...silly cat! ;)

I'd like my money back for 2020. The goods I ordered were faulty and didn't live up to the promises made when I ordered on 31 December 2019.

Those android tins are very cleverly executed. Have a great weekend.

I don´t know about 2021 but can I cancel 2020??
Those cards was quite fun.

Now who is late, it´s Saturday already!
No. The soldiers were in the German news more than once, no need to explain. I really, really... I fail to find the words.
No American (luckily now ex-) President made it to our news ever. A shame he is.

Prime, LOL, I was offered but said no. But.... yes, two more things are running via amazon to me (one for my Niece).

Speaking of camera... I´ll give it a go tonight with my new one.

I get the picture, how cool is that and made with love is priceless!
Owwww, pics of baby (sorry, young boy, of course) Bleubeard available?

I never thought about "cooking" altoid tins. It is a cool effect. And fun to see this piece of art that I have never seen before. It is really cool. I'm playing catch up myself right now. Hope your weekend is going well.
