T Stands For Another Outing From the Archives

Before we reach into the archives, I first want to wish all my Canadian friends  a rather late, but still heartfelt Happy Thanksgiving.  I also have a gift I received that I want to share with you.

I hope you can see it's from Nicole at DVArtist, a recent T Tuesday participant.  I received this last Friday, and it's been in quarantine until now.

When I opened the gift, I was blown away.  Look at the beautiful cabochons and bead backing felts she sent me.  She also sent a lovely note and instructions concerning the cabochons, too.

Now I wish I'd taken these beauties out of their plastic wrappers, because my photo doesn't do justice to them. Thank you beyond belief Nicole.  I am extremely grateful.  Your gift is so thoughtful.

One nice thing about this visit to the archives is I more than likely didn't show my foodie friend and I going to a certain restaurant because we had either been there recently, or had visited other Mexican restaurants around that time.  We often get on a "kick" and visit several restaurants that are similar, like Mexican, Italian, Chinese, etc. before we are burned out on that type of food.  Not so, now.  No one wants to sit inside a restaurant in the states (at least those of us who are sensible) and eat without a mask on.

Cholita's is one of those restaurants I have ranted about.  They claim to have the best Mexican food restaurant in town, but I believe their food is only marginally good, and their restaurant is old and tired.  The carpet is threadbare, and the decorations are uninspiring.  In fact, there's really nothing to show on their walls.

While Sally used the toilet, I became fascinated by how the light showed through my lemon.  Sometimes little things make me smile and sometimes they reduce the boredom.

Although Sally and I normally get the same thing (flautas for her and chili relleno for me), this time she got a taco salad and I got a Mexican omelet.  I asked them to leave the hot peppers off, which are seen in a small container above my plate.  I seem to be having trouble with cheese omelets, even if this one claimed to be Mexican.  It was nothing more than cheese and the peppers I asked them to leave out.  I'm sure this uninspiring meal is why this T Tuesday post landed in the archives.

It's now time for you to share your own drink related post.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard wants to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

It's disappointing to go to a restaurant and not get better food than that. Perhaps when Covid is over you will go looking for some new and exciting restaurants. One day we can all go out again! You got some lovely presents from Nicole, enjoy! Have a great week and happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Your photos really do look like bog-standard Mexican food. No imagination at all. I wonder if this place will survive the pandemic? I think there are some places failing that really deserve to fail: unfortunately also many that would have been nice to keep. It looks to me like you could get most of that out of a CAN!!! Or maybe an Old El Paso taco kit.

be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

I can see why the restaurant post was in your archives - yuck.

On the other hand, the gift package from Nicole was amazing. Her cabochons are gorgeous.

Happy T-day! Stay safe and stay safe. Hugs, Eileen

About comments: Eileen asked if people left comments for her last week. I don’t remember if I did, but just now I tried to leave one and it disappeared. It may be awaiting moderation, but I didn’t receive any messages to that effect. I wish her good luck!

again, be well, Elizabeth! ... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

Too bad about yet another disappointing meal. Where we live there are SO many varieties of restaurants- family owned, chains, franchises, casual, expensive.... that word of mouth is enough for us to decide on whether or not to try a place. Of course, since March a lot has changed:(
What a generous, thoughtful gift from Nicole. her cabochons are gorgeous! Happy T day!

First, I do not know what cabochons are. Maybe items for making jewelry? We haven’t been out to eat, only order and pick up. I didn’t know I was going to spend my old age “staying at home”! I did go to a stamp class and we wore masks and only four of us in one room. It was great to get out with people, even a few! Happy T .day!

I haven't had Mexican food for so long, and now I would love this. Yum...yum...yum. Nice for you to go back into the archives and tease us...hee-hee-hee. And wow. Those are amazing cabochons. That is an amazing gift and so sweet of Nicole. Even if you can't go get Mexican food and we are all dealing with covid worries, life is still good. I hope you have a fabulous T day and enjoy your day. Hugs-Erika

Really not a place to rave about, for sure. But just seeing restaurant pics is like from a former life these days. ;)

It's always disappointing when the food doesn't meet up to our expectations. I have to agree with you that the plates wee not super appealing either-sigh. we rarely go out to eat with our diet needs but since covid has hit restaurants are one place we would not do-too things could go wrong-in the kitchen for starters, the order takers, and those that bring out the food.
Gorgeous gifts Elizabeth-enjoy them Happy T wishes Kathy

I do love Mexican food...even when its just ok. Sad but true. Maybe its just getting food that I don't have to make. That really could be the main thing. :)
Happy T day

Thank you for the Happy Thanksgiving shout Out. My Thanksgiving was fun as my hubby and I had a good turkey meal and we saved a big plate for my bro who came by and picked some up staying outside mind you. Your gift your received looks great and I know you will put it to good use. That food you show looks...icky.

So sad your meal was boring. I love Mexican Food, but the only real good restaurant moved...
Once we went to "The Ox" - they claim to be the best Steak House in town. It was awful. Staff extra-arrogant, probably cause they saw me shake my head grinning a tad mean after we waited already like forever and another couple ordered their steak "very well cooked"!!! I jokingly said to Ingo, "with fries and ketchup, too?!".
In the end we left with empty stomachs and will never return.
But that pressie at least sure made your day!!

I don’t care for Mexican food as it’s too spicy for me so I wouldn’t be able to tell a good restaurant from bad, Even if the food and experience were lackluster, at least you had an outing with your friend.

You received a lovely gift. Use the items in good health and have a Happy T Day

dva artist is an amazing cabachon maker! And a really nice person too. I agree on eating out, we used to love it but now it's dangerous. If our whole country had jumped on masks and distance and testing we'd be farther along in recovery. Love the review and pics in the archives here. I have two gifts sitting out in quarantine right now, I hate to do that! LeeAnna

What fun you'll have incorporating those cabochons into your art! I enjoy Mexican food and miss my favorite Mexican restaurants. It's going to be the end of next year, last I heard, before I'll want to dine in. In the meantime take-out and delivery are fun :)

Happy T Tuesday!

Ohhhh I am so glad you like the gifts. They were for the swap you had a while back. It so surprises me at how many people don't know what a cabochon is, especially in the tpe of art so many of you create. Yes they started out for jewelry but the are used in so much altered art. I can't wait to see what you do with yours Elizabeth. Now for the food. Ohhh there is nothing like getting a bad Mexican meal. This looks bad. There is only one decent place in my town and of course now we don't eat out. However, I do make very good traditional Mexican food taught by my FIL. He was from Mexico. Enjoy your day and thank you for sharing the gift.

You're right no one wants to eat inside and as of last Saturday all indoor dining has been closed down again due to rising numbers.
And wouldn't you know it I saw an amazing looking Mexican place on Saturday that had such cute murals inside!!

what an awesome gift you received Elizabeth ... I had to look up cabochons as I wasn't sure what they were; these are really nice !!! :) ☺☺

I have never had mexican food in a restaurant as there are no Mexican restaurants near here. But I have Mexican friends and what she cooks is very nice. The meal on your plate in the photo does not look very inspiring. I don't know what the brown sauce is but it looks like vomit and I would certainly not want to eat that unless i was literally starving. Oh well, you win a few and you lose a few.
But those cabuchons are a winner. How beautiful they are. I have no idea what you do with them but they sure are stunning. How kind of Nicole!
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

It surprises me how many of my friends are eating out again. I'm not quite ready for that.
I love your cabachons. They are truly beautiful.
Be healthy, stay safe, my friend.

What a fabulous treat you received - the cabochons look great even in their wrapping!
Disappointing meals often don't get shown and I'm sorry yours was one of those type, Sally's looks quite colourful! Hugs, Chrisx

What lovely gifts from Nicole. They are really pretty and will make such pretty art.
I love Mexican food but I can't say beans ever looks appetizing. Of course, the taste is the most important. Sad that it didn't meet your expectations in either department. Hopefully you will find a better place to dine out.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

What a lovely gift from Nicole, and my eyes spy that those gifts hailed all the way from the great state of Oregon! It's been many years since I visited an authentic restaurant which happened to be in New Orleans. I love spicy food, but while I enjoyed the decor and customer service, the spiciness was out of this world hot!(lol) Sure hope you're doing well, and I'm sending some socially distanced hugs. RO
