Up, up, and away
I'd like to begin by reminding everyone in the U.S. to never forget what our brave soldiers died for over the past nearly 250 years. Honor them today, please. For those of you who don't live in the U.S., have a lovely bank holiday (in the U.K.) and a lovely Monday where ever you live.
I'm back again joining Erika, who you may know as Bio Art Gal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her themes In the air/In the sky.
I was inspired by my dear friend Yvonne and created this based on a spread she created earlier in the month. She always inspires me in ways she'll never know.
"Up, up, and away!"
Of course, this page would not have been possible
without the lovely LaBlanche stamp my dear friend Valerie sent me one year for my birthday.
I created this in my Challenges Altered Book. I started by laying down a paper (kitchen) towel that I had used to offload my brush when changing colors of Twinkling H20s. I tried to figure a way to mask off the hot air balloon, but finally gave up and stamped it directly on the page. I'm surprised it stamped so well due to the texture created by the paper towel, but I credit that to the amazing LaBlanche stamp. The words were colored using water soluble crayons and written using a metallic gel pen.
Thanks beyond belief for joining me this very special holiday and I hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your interpretation of Erika's theme.
As a head's up, I will be gone all day Tuesday because:
I have been summoned for jury duty. If they like the answers I give them during voir dire, I will be part of what appears to be a one week trial, or possibly one that could last even longer.

Gorgeous journal page, glad you could use the stamp. Jury service does not sound so exciting, so hope you get through the time spent at court. Happy Memorial Day, it's always good to remember what others did for us. Valerie
I am thrilled about this page Elizabeth,it's heavenly!Another impressing entry for the wonderful collection Erika hosts at AJJ! I am sure they will want you in the jury and I am also sure you are the exact right person for doing this.Give just your best as you always do, I appreciate you for your way of thinking and living your beautiful mind out! Happy Memorial Day!Happy AJJ! Susi xxx
What a glorious page - the paper texture is just amazing - and your mop-up sky looks well worth sailing away into. I'm on my ninth postponement for a hot air balloon flight. It's taken more than five years so far since the voucher was issued... one day! Sorry I've been so absent - there's a quieter period on the horizon (at least until the next last-minute gig bobs up to spoil it).

Your page captures the imagination of floating over the countryside in a hot air balloon. Wonderful! I've been summoned for jury duty in July. In Massachusetts, we serve for one day or one trial which usually doesn't last more than 3 days. If a trial lasts longer, the court has to pay the juror's $50 per day and the court doesn't like paying! :-D Enjoy your day!
Wow, jury duty. That is exciting-or not, depending if you get picked and what the case is. I like how they state it out what you need to be on a jury. It could be exciting. And moving backwards this morning, I love this balloon page. The background with the colors are really amazing, like colorful clouds. I am thinking of the song now. Smile. This is a great addition off AJJ and I thank you for your support this month. And finally, happy Memorial Day. Hope your sun really does come out and things do begin to dry up a little bit. It is time for a weather change compared to the track we have all been stuck in for a few weeks. Happy memorial Day. hugs-Erika
Hi Dr. E. Sorry I have not been here sooner, I have been a bit busy! Hoping that you have a beautiful weekend and I love your mention of Memorial Day... I am always so surprised by how many confuse it with Veterans day. Your richly textured balloon is yummy! x
I like your page, it's so colourful.
Hope the jury service goes well.
Take care
All the best Jan
Love that page! That made for a wonderful background )
In all my days I've never been called for jury duty. I hope your service is not stressful.
I should come keep you company while you wait in that big room! Although, you will probably visit with many individuals while waiting. I was called to Summers in a row a couple of years ago. It is an interesting break from routine. Happy Memorial Day!
I love that journal page Elizabeth! I really must use up some of my mop up towels!! That really is a stern summons! Hugs, Chrisxx
Have a nice Memorial Day, Elizabeth. Here's to all who have served for love of country and family. Good luck with voir dire and if you're selected I hope the trial is short! Eileen xx
A very beautiful page! I can’t believe how well that stamped on all that texture - and you always say you can’t stamp! I hope if you get picked for jury duty it’s an interesting case. I take it from the timeline it shouldn’t be too traumatic. I always feel bad for juries who have to sit through weeks if not months of testimony in murder trials and other terrible things.
Wow! The colors and texture of this piece is very lovely! Hopefully, you won't have to do the jury duty thing too long. As always, I thank you for your recognition of those we lost on Memorial Day. It's a day of recognition, but I still can't wrap my arms around when people around the world say "Happy" Memorial Day. As you mentioned, it's a day of recognition. I've lost lots of friends and family in the military, and know many who suffer from traumatic brain injury, the loss of limbs, suicide and more. Something about that just doesn't sound happy to me. Hugs and thanks so much! RO
I love your balloon! And hope your Memorial day was nice. Good luck at the jury pool. I have never been chosen.
This is a so Gorgeous Art page Elizabeth !! I loooove the balloon, and the lovely colours of the tissu, good quote !
I hope the Jury service will go fine, and that you´ll like to participate in it. I wish you a very nice afternoon,
Big hugs, Caty
Thank you for your kind words Elizabeth. You are an inspiration to us all, I wish I could experiment and created many of the things you share with us on your blog.
I love how you created the background and the hot air balloon is a fantastic stamp
I am catching up after returning home this afternoon. I hope your Tuesday goes well.

Your starting this page with a kitchen towel - used to offload your brush - is amazing! It's a wonderful background for your flying hot air balloon, I am also surprised it stamped so well on this textured paper! Surely I am now singing "up, up and away ..." the whole day long :))
Wish you good times for your jury duty if it last longer.
Rike xx
Beautiful artwork and great tribute to Memorial Day. It was a day of remembrance for me, in addition to being the unofficial kick off to Summer. I hope you don't get selected to be on a jury (unless you want to be on one). I hate jury duty.
