Sunset

I'm once again joining Erika, or Bio Art Gal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her themes In the air/In the sky.  Today I've once again chosen In the sky.

Once again I called on a used security envelope to be the backdrop for my spread.

This explains why we perceive the sky as blue.

It also explains why we see both sunrises and sunsets as red.

Today I have chosen to share a sunset with you.

You can see how

the reds and blue interact

to create our atmosphere.

For  this entry, I began with the blue security envelope, then, using variegated thread, sewed a different security envelope to the back after hand printing the word Sunset, the title of the piece.  I found the information on the atmosphere and the sunset in a book on the cosmos.

Thanks beyond belief for joining me today and I also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey.

This is lovely and educational. I like seeing the explanations for the sky colors we see. And then there's that old saying, "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning." (I don't know how true it is, but I like it.)

Whether we see red, blue, or a combination, sunsets are spectacular. Like your page. I enjoyed reading the color explanation, too.

That is a fantastic page Elizabeth. That is such a cool photo where you can see the atmosphere i black above the blue. Not only it is it a beautiful sunset photo, but I really like how you included the explanation. The sky has some fantastic colors when it wants to. Ours today is a wash of grey, after a gorgeous day yesterday. I didn't even see the moon last night as the clouds were in by 7ish. Saw on the news you could be in the storm threat again, so hope the news was wrong and you have sun and a beautiful sunset too. Thanks so much for all your support and for linking up this fantastic page my friend. Hugs-Erika

This is so nice with the pale blue background showcasing that vivid sunset. Neat to show why the colours show up likenthey do.
