Food might not be my friend

Yesterday morning I was just about to leave my house to look for a new refrigerator/freezer when I doubled over in the worst gut wrenching pain I have ever experienced.  I won't go into the gruesome details of what followed, including the various symptoms that go with severe stomach aches (please use your imagination, which includes expulsion from both ends of my body).

I called my foodie friend Sally, who has more doctors and specialists than anyone I know.  I was hoping she would have an idea what might be wrong with me.  After we determined I wasn't having a gall stone or kidney stone attack, she felt I had food poisoning.  I had all the symptoms, nausea, diarrhea, severe stomach pains, and dehydration.  She also pointed out my immune system had probably been weakened due to recent events in my life.

I suspect I ate something from my freezer I shouldn't have.  I went on the internet and the general consensus is rest.  Although I plan to visit the rest of my T Tuesday group, I plan to only eat bland food for a day or two and visit my favorite blogs as time (and the cats) permit.  They seem to have decided to show extra attention today.  Thanks for understanding and the extra love you share and show each time you visit.

Hope you are better, and the bad food episode is finished.

Our fridge died while my daughter was visiting. We tried to keep frozen food in ice chest, but we threw it away.

Our new fridge arrived 4(!) days later.

Hope you are recovering. I had food poisoning once and it was miserable. Keep your fluids up as much as you can and get some rest. And don't eat any more food from your freezer...of course. Take care. Hugs-Erika

Oh dear Elizabeth ...I hope you feel better soon!
I did worry when I saw comments on some T folk's blogs about the ice-cream you ate.
Many years ago my ex hubby decided he liked the ice-cream so much in the place we stayed that on our last day we stopped for ice-cream at every place selling it - he was really ill on the plane and for a day or so afterwards too. He was told that he had frozen his stomach!!!
I do hope that you are able to get better quickly and get a new fridge/freezer! Big hugs, Chrisx

I have had this more than once. When I was little, it was the 24 hr flu bug and it was not pretty. I would be down for the count for a week. The last time I got hit like that was over 20 yrs ago....eat bland toast, crackers and drink a lot. Rest and rest and rest. Take care.

Dear Elizabeth,

I hope you're all well now and that that's all it was (food poisoning). As you and Sally discussed, it could have been something much more serious. I'm glad Bleubeard and Squiggles are taking good care of you.

Hugs, Eileen

I have just read this post, I hope you are feeling a bit better today and are over the harsh symptoms, it will take time for you to feel completely well. Rest sounds good and I hope Bleubeard and Squiggles are being good cats for you as you recover.
Take care of yourself.

I've heard that food poisoning is sneaky, and sometimes can show up as early as an hour after you've eaten the food or all the way up until 10 days later depending on the bacteria! The average is 6 hours though. I'm sending some healing hugs to you to please rest and take care of yourself. We want you to feel much better. Hugs...RO
