Words of wisdom

I'm once again joining Gill at Gibby Froggett Craftations, this month's host at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is Inspired by . . . and I was inspired when I found all these words of wisdom I've had in my stash for years.

These were originally printed and cut to size for use in a couple of flag books.   These were extras, or ones I chose not to use.

I used the sayings because, rather than throwing them in the recycle bin, I thought they went great with Gill's theme.  I sewed all the words of wisdom to a page of heavy cardstock that I had attempted to spritz with my handmade shimmering mists.  Sadly all these mists had the nerve to quit spraying at the same time!  I used three different variegated threads on this page, because I was hoping the sewing would make up for the lack of style of this page I created in my Challenges altered book.  I hate my handwriting, so I also feel the handwritten words penned using a metallic gel pen, were a distraction.  All wisdoms were created using WordPerfect, my word processing software.

Thank you for joining me today.   I am glad you are here.  I hope you will join me at Art Journal Journey, too.

I love this page and also that you used recycled pieces, Stitching always adds such a nice touch too.
I want to thank you for your very kind words on my post-I actually impressed myself that I was able to salvage this hemp pulp. have you ever added sizing to your handmade papers? CJ asked me about that and something I have thought about especially for the recycled papers handmade papers
enjoy your weekend-and be safe if you are getting these extreme hot temps too

Fun! So you stitched all these tags to a paper? I love to try this idea as well. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

Love this Elizabeth - and of course beside the lovely words - it was your awesome stitching again that I noticed and admired. I really would like to have a go at this oneday - but maybe after I've finished some overdue sewing projects i.e new curtains etc.
Do you have a separate machine just for your art projects?

I'm assuming that the nozzles on your mister sprays have clogged up - did you use tap water to make the spray?
My sprays are the same so I have got some distilled water to see if that makes any difference...but not done as yet.
Thanks again for your AJJ support this week and lovely comments.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Gill xx

A fun page. I like how the stitching creates frames for the words of wisdom. "Real men don't ask for directions" made me laugh. Ain't that the truth! Have a good day!

Me again - thanks for the message (and sewing machine info) with that link - that was a great tutorial and great tips. I'd not thought about adding a bead, I have plenty of those so will be doing that next time. And adding a drop of glue was different so will be trying that too.
So going back to the original problem - it obviously isn't caused by limescale then if you are using distilled water - but there must be a way of somehow unclogging our nozzles - I am going to make that my mission to investigate asap and will let you know if I succeed...Gill xx

Really fun page Elizabeth, and great way to use up bits that otherwise might get recycled. I also enjoyed your napkin tutorial. I haven’t done anything with napkins but glue them onto paper - very wrinkly!

Cute page. Sorry your misters all quit. I find that they always seem to plug up pretty easily.

Wonderful, Elizabeth! It would make a great affirmation board. Did it chee you just to read all those little messages as you worked? It would me.

Your sewing make these words of wisdom to an amazing page!
My favourite is "Real men don't ask for directions" it's an experience from my real life :) ... real men prefer to drive three times or more the same way in circles before asking where is the exit? Or are these words meant in another direction??
Smiling, Rike
