Music to my ears

I'm once again joining Gill at Gibby Froggett Craftations, this month's host at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is Inspired by . . . .

Two things that inspire me are recycling and sheet music.

Add to that a lovely stencil and hand made molding paste,

and you end up with a big mess!

Not for long, though.

I've added a few detail shots.

Materials for this journal page include a recycled cardboard cracker box, a page of vintage sheet music, handmade black molding paste, and a 6 inch X 6 inch stencil.

Thank you beyond belief for joining me today.  I hope you will join me at Art Journal Journey, too.

Wow, with even handmade molding paste and I loved as if by magic the white molding paste turned into black .

The cassette images look like faces to me. Maybe a choir trying to sing the song on the sheet music. Very fun.

"OH, NO" I cried after scrolling to the third picture ... but then scrolling to the next picture I saw these cassette images over the music sheet - they fit perfectly - and the black overpaint was all away :)
Very creative, dear Elizabeth!
Happy weekend! Rike xx

"...and you end up with a big mess! " lol. All's well that ends well, right? I like this page.

I just found an old hymn book and don't know whether to make my 1st altered book with it or use the pages like you have here or in mixed media collages. Hmmm ... decisions, decisions ...

The stencil works perfect with the music sheet. And you end up with a nice page. :) Too bad there is no way to make each cassette play a song. Wouldn't that be cool to be able to do? Not sure how you could do though. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Hugs-Erika

Great effect Elizabeth! I was thinking that the stencils might be too fine for the melding paste, but they turned out beautifully.

Oh I do love this very much Elizabeth. Love the theme and the brilliant result.
Your home made paste was fab and I adore that stencil and the sheet music especially as it reminds me of back in the 80s and 90s I dabbled in songwriting and would send my songs off to various music publishers on cassettes.
Do they still make sheet music I wonder - I've seen books but not the old fashioned sheets.
Thanks for sharing what inspired you and for another brilliant page on this theme.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend...

I love the idea of using sheet music. The patterns make such beautiful background art, and I love thee whole black-and-white effect.
