This is SEW RECYCLED!!

Happy Friday 13th.  I hope it's a lucky day for you.

Ever since I saw Alison's recycle and collage theme at Art Journal Journey, I have been thinking about this project.  And because it fits the Recycle Something theme, I am once again joining Try it on Tuesday.   And finally, since it has a bit of sewing, I thought Annie and the rest of the Friday Smiles group would get a smile seeing this recycled project.

In case you can't tell, I cut a 35 MM slide holder down so I could add it to my Challenges altered book.   The area that has nothing in the pockets will receive a bit of tape and will become a tip-in, which is a decorated page added to a book.

I added bits of the equivalent of flotsam and jetsam to the individual slide holder slots.  Some needed to be sewn in order to keep the contents curtailed.

I was tickled that this turned out as well as it did.  I often get ideas in my head that don't turn out as well as I hoped.  But this recycled project made me happy, even if it was very, very difficult to photograph.

Materials I recycled for Day 13 of 22 include vintage map pieces, postage stamps, clipolas, a feather, two rocks, cork, sand, shells, sea glass, and small collages cut to size.  I also included part of a 35 mm plastic slide holder and some green and white thread.

Here  are some funnies for the Friday Smiles group, too.

I just wish I had a joke to add. But I am not very good at math!

How did the blond die ice fishing?

She was hit by the zamboni.

This not just makes you happy - it makes me and I guess many other visitors here happy as well! What a genius idea again and perfectly put into practice. I can tell that with every project we have to think about and to ask ourselves which techniques to use on it, moves us forward - skill comes with practice - I adore your tip in- this is UNIQUE ! You made TioT and AJJ happy this Friday!Thank you so much!
Hope you have a good day and all the best with the key board dilemma! Hope it gets fixed soon or you get a new one soon. Can imagine how annoying that is for you! ♥♥♥

What a great recycling idea Elizabeth and a great way to display and keep little memories. I admire your clever sewing too - oh and good jokes too although I did have to google 'Zamboni' - but now I learnt something new as well, so thanks for that :)
Happy Friday and have a great weekend.

Great idea to sew some of the treasures in so they don't spill out. The funnies made me smile. Hope your day is full of smiles, too.

Flotsam and jetsom- ha, ha! You made it look great, and I'm impressed with all the sewing you did on this. Glad it turned out as you hoped.

Oh that is sooo nice! That is a really unusual collage. I can understand you are very pleased with it.
You had me giggle at the jokes. (My husband is dyslexic so I know all about that)
Of course I had no idea what a zamboni was, so I had to look it up before I could smile.
Have a great weekend and a week full of smiles.

I don't know why -- maybe it's because I can't type my letters write but I am just roaring over "a dyslexic walks into a bra..."!!!

Happy weekend!

A wonderful display page as well as a fabulous recycling project. . Sewing the compartments is also a great idea to keep precious things safe.
I am off now to see what zamboni means as well.

p.s. So pleased you added this to TioT's, you are inspirational.

What a fun way to gather some lovely pieces together! I've never thought of using card holders for anything else, but this is a great idea. Wonderful!

This makes a really cool page that will look great in your journal. It will also be an interesting view. I like the stitching and the bits and bobs you will the pockets with. I'm late as it's been a busy day, and thanks for the packing help in your comment. :) It's easier to pack for just a vacation that's for sure. Hope you didn't have any bad luck on this Friday the 13th, and happy almost weekend too. Hugs-Erika
