Beautiful Butterfly

Today I'm joining Rike at Rike's Art who is this month's host at Art Journal Journey with her theme Animals A to Z.

I call this one Beautiful Butterfly for obvious reasons.

I began by printing the B and words, which I then colored using water soluble crayons.  Yes, these are my very favorite coloring instrument at the moment.

This was actually from a cut out I created earlier in the month, and I used what remained as a stencil.

This started life as a birthday card, but in order to recycle it, I had to find a way to cover the wording.

Can you see the little gems that I added to the butterfly?

It really is a beautiful butterfly.

This was created in my challenges altered book.  As I explained, it was a birthday card that I cut to turn into an entry for Art Journal Journey.   I used three water soluble colors to color the words and letter.  I used a sponge through the home made stencil to make the small butterfly.

I will be out all day, but will visit between commercials during NBA All Star Saturday Night (the B stands for basketball, my favorite the only sport I watch and follow).    I greatly appreciate your visit today.  I hope to see you at Art Journal Journey, too.

I see why you are so happy with the water soluble crayons - you use them to their best ! And how clever is the recycling of the birthday card here! The little gems are beyond beautiful! A wonderful entry in your challenges altered book Elizabeth and fabulous for Rike's wonderful theme! Happy weekend my lovely Co-Admin!
Take good care of you and enjoy your weekend!
I have a quiet weekend started, so I have a bit me-time and can prepare things for the different challenges. Hope my muse is not out and about.....

Yes, this butterfly is a BEAUTY! And you made it more beautiful with the gems! I also like your pink little butterfly which you created with a sponge through a selfmade-stencil! I too like water soluble crayons :)
Wish you a happy weekend and fun while watching the basketball games!
Rike xx
P.S. Thank you for your comments for my rhino! I also did not realize, I looked at wikipedia:
The white rhinoceros is quick and agile and can run 50 km/h (31 mph).
The Indian rhinoceros can run at speeds of up to 55 km/h (34 mph) for short periods of time and are excellent swimmers.

Lovely page Elizabeth - a clever reuse of a pretty card. The black background of the card makes everything pop. I like the way you cut it into three sections, and also your reuse of a cutout from a previous project as a stencil.

Your butterfly looks stunning against the dark background., it is a beautiful page and it is good to recycle cards. Double the pleasure felt when receiving them and being able to share for another occasion.
Hope you enjoy the game.

That is a beautiful butterfly, and a great way to recycle a card. The gems really make that butterfly more regal than it already is. I am checking blogs between periods in hockey. We are watching our college team play tonight which we stream from the computer. I am exhausted from driving and being out all day myself, so it's a good night just to watch tv and check out some blogs. Hope your side in the NBA all star wins. hugs-Erika
