The Audition

For my final day of playing in Art Every Day Month or AEDM, I am auditioning embellishments I want to use on a quiltlet I'm planning to make.

I purchased this fabric specifically to make a quiltlet for a dear friend.   I know she reads my blog, so it won't be a big surprise when she gets it.  If you want to guess, she always, ALWAYS visits and leaves a kind remark, lives in Düsseldorf in Germany, and LOVES birds.

I can't decide if I want to add the wing to the bird, and if I want to color the leather birds red.   Will I use vintage rick rack, lacy seam binding,

or possibly even burlap (what Europeans the rest of the world call Hessian)?  Only time will tell.

And like I have done for the past few years, here is a wrap-up of the art I created for AEDM.

This is Day 30 of AEDM and I auditioned embellishments to accompany a quiltlet I will create for my dear friend.  I also created a wrap-up mosaic.  I greatly appreciate your sticking with me through this month, and putting up with my inability to properly leave comments due to my keyboard melt-down.  Since I threatened to buy a new keyboard, it has miraculously behaved at least half the time.  So, I sincerely thank you for that AND your wonderful visits.   Now it's time to turn the page to December.

I'm still trying to guess which lucky person is going to get that gorgeous piece - there are 800,000 people living in Düsseldorf, so it's hard to narrow it down.... Well done on getting something done every day this month, that's great. Hugs, Valerie-with-a-runny-nose

Lovely fabric for the quiltlet and I'm sure your dear friend will love it, whoever that may be ...lol 😉. I'm thinking without the wings, although they may look pretty if the wings were in a contrasting colour? You certainly had a busy month with all that beautiful art you created and it looks like you'll be having a creative December too - can't wait to see your makes 😁. Happy Thursday! J 😊

I am sure your friend will love it when she gets it - great to see your conciderations for the project.
I can tell you that in Austria we have at least 5 words for burlap.
And since I read and join and follow many more of the english speaking crafters than german speaking bloggers and they all use the term "burlap" for this kind of woven fabric ( never heard Hessian yet, I swear) I often have to think about the right german term, when I think about "burlap"in german thoughts. I did it yesterday as my hubby brought home a "burlap" bag filled with clementines for Santa Claus [Saint Nicholas] this day is celebrated here on Dec.6th)
I think the official term for when you buy "burlap" is "Jute" in Germany and Austria.
Happy day Elizabeth!

So many wonderful projects in your collage. I am not sure what a quiltlet is, so I am off to look it up. So sweet of you to make something specifically for your friend using her favorite things! I am sure it will be beautiful no matter what you use.

Just a quick note to thank you for dropping my my blog and commenting, a couple days ago--I really appreciate it!

I wrote you some replies, there, but since you were commenting anonymously, I figured you wouldn't get notified, so I'm leaving this here.

I send you best wishes for all your projects, and for a happy holiday season and a good new year and a reliable keyboard!
