It's Halloween time

Today, before it's too late, I am joining Moo-Mania & More and Try it on Tuesday.  They both are featuring Halloween as their theme this fortnight.

I finished this about 11:30 p.m. my time, so the lighting is absolutely atrocious.  I'm hoping a few step out photos will help.

I thought this might add a bit of humor

when I added the message to the beak of the bird.

I wish I hadn't outlined the pumpkins, even though they didn't stand out well before I did.

I thought they looked garish after the outlines were in place.

I'm working in my new Challenges altered book (AB), but wish I'd added it to my Halloween AB instead.  For the background, I used the very last of my orange acrylic paint, images I found in my stash, and a message found on the back of my new candle lighter package.

Thanks for visiting today.  I always appreciate your visit, especially when it's on the weekend.  And don't forget to visit Moo-Mania & More and Try it on Tuesday where their theme is Halloween.  Maybe you can join in, too!

This turned out super - I love all about this happy Halloween spread and your humour always makes me laugh!
The outlining of the pumpkins is o.k. in my mind - they pop out quite well - so...well done.
Try something on an extra piece if you have time for some experimentation. Outline an item with a cheap non permanent marker or charcoal or even pencil and then go over this lines with a waterbrush. It is not so harsh then and if all is dry you can go once again over the outlining for giving it definition again.
If this makes sense for you. Another thing I personally do whe an outlining is to harsh for me. In this case for instance I would take an oilpastelstick in orange or a colored pencil in orange and go around the black lines - outlining the now black lines of the pumpkin. And soften it with the finger or oil - or water(for the colored watersoluble pencils) That would make a gradation and would make a softer transition for the eye.
But I really think that for this super fun Halloween pages it is perfect just as it is!

Happy Saturday my friend - THANK you very much for a happy Altered Book spread linked to Try It On Tuesday and Moo Mania & More! You know how much all the teamies and specially froebelsternchen appreciate your participations.
HUgs to the boys -
here it is raining today and grey - will be lazy - housework is all done- yeah!

Love your page. So happy. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I like the outlined pumpkins. Like a shadow or cape costume. Without the outline, they would fit more with Thanksgiving.

I love your Halloween journal spread and the sweet little bird keeping out of reach. The pumpkins look like they have smiling faces cut into them, so a happy feel as well to the page for me.
Thank you for your support at TioT's we love you joining us there.

I don't see the outlining as garish. It helps them stand out, which I think is a good thing. I like the warning about the blackbird beak :)

I like these pages.
Fun and not too spooky.

Carving pumpkins can be such fun - the grandchildren always enjoy theirs although their Dad always does the carving - carefully!

All the best Jan

What fun Halloween pages! Outlining the pumpkins in black matches the black writing and crow, balancing the images - I actually hadn't noticed you had outlined them until you said 😁. Hope you had a lovely weekend and wishing you a happy new week! J 😊
