Caught in Irma
I'm once again joining my dear friend Yvonne of Meggy's Way who is hosting Art Journal Journey this month with her chosen theme of Colo(u)r in my World. I'm also joining Try it on Tuesday with their theme Stitch It (real or faux).
I took time yesterday to watch the impending storm that has now impacted the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. I was so impressed with the weather graphics, I wanted to make something similar.
To show I am paying homage to all those affected by Irma, I decided to sew the name of the hurricane to the page.
I have no feed dogs that drop, so this was all done free hand.
This is how I envisioned the storm
in color graphic form as it heads to Florida.
I realized there would be lots of destruction with this storm, so I tried to mess up the paper a bit before I did any sewing.
Materials used include heavy card stock, a piece of copier paper (sewed word on), lots of paint, watercolor crayons, and variegated thread. These are the colors of my world today.
Thanks for joining me today as I once again visit
Art Journal Journey
and
Try it on Tuesday
I hope to see you at these two challenge sites, too!

Wonderful page, and a great commemoration of the devastation being wrought by these hurricanes just now. Thanks for joining us at TIOT, much appreciated. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
nice sewing.. very fine art with watercolour and crayons
Wow.. this is a great page to commemorate this natural force.
I love how you have paint the eye of the hurricane in the center! Here we are anxiously following the news as well.
Let's hope the devastations will be not as bad as feared.
Thank you very much for that beautiful page linked to Art Journal Journey and to Try It On Tuesday again!
We are very happy about your wonderful support always dear Elizabeth!

Your hurricane certainly looks like the graphics I've seen the weather dudes use. Great colors. Your wonderful creation will be a record of a historical event.
What a lovely tribute! This hurricane season has been so catastrophic and you have captured it's dramatic nature on your page. My heart goes out to all of those affected by hurricane Harvey and Irma too. Wishing you a great day! J 😊
You have really caught the eye of the storm in this wonderful page. I can see the movement of the storm with the great colours of your paint swirls
The pictures we have seen here have looked horrific, with all the damage it has caused a fantastic tribute page.
Thank you again Elizabeth for sharing your art with us at TioT's and my theme at AJJ this month, its good to see the colours in your world today.
Yvonne xx
A wonderful tribute Elizabeth! You have captured the colours and the weather graphics that we have all been seeing on the news programmes!Such devastation for so many people! Thank you for this entry at Try It On Tuesday!Hugs, Chrisx
That's a great abstract piece of the storm. Looking at the radar and ignoring all the damage, it a cool piece of art. :) You really captured the art of it and I LOVE the colors! Happy Sunday. Hugs-Erika
Irma is _huge_! I think you caught her spirit.
Great piece! FYI - You can cover your feed dogs with a piece of plastic (or cardstock) with a hole punched for the needle.
So sad for so many folks. I like your sewing a lot and I think the whole page commemorates the event very well.
We are all watching Irma. Prayers to all.
excellent
we have a friend that lives in the Keys that left to stay with a friend-his home flooded so now they moved to where his summer mobile home is-he said the worse thing is that everything is closed up even wal mart and no gas
The real Irma is bad but your so-colourful Irma is stunningly beautiful. With these colours the painting looks alive and your Irma is ready to spread goodness and light.
Your Irma is wonderful. Lovelier than the real thing, to be sure, but it certainly captures the energy and movement of the real deal. I love what sheila 77 said -- it looks like your Irma is ready to spread goodness and light. And I hope healing and love.
Wonderful depiction of Irma, too bad it is such a destructive thing. The images from the Keys are so awful. It will be another long haul for those folks. xox
Quite a stunning Interpretation of the weather radar! Beautiful colors but certainly deadly in reality. hoping the preparation in FLA. minimizes the loss of life...
This is a wonderful representation of the storm images. Have been watching the images coming out of the Carribean and Florida the last couple of days. Terrible.
Thanks for joining us at TIOT, much appreciated. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
