T Stands For Patriotism

Here in the U.S., today is the day of our independence, also known as the 4th of July.   It is a legal holiday, which means no one will have to open dreaded bills and junk mail.  Independence Day is celebrated because it is the day the U.S. adopted the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago on July 4, 1776.  It was at that time the Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were now a new and single nation, formally known as the United States of America.  It was also on that day they declared they were no longer part of the British Empire.

In the U.S. today, we are showing our patriotism.   Our flags are proudly flying high.

Bleubeard and I are lifting our cup of patriotism to those who fought so hard for this land and those who still love it, in spite of its many, many faults.  We'll light a candle for those who have given their lives for this country, too.

Now it's your turn to share your T entry this week whether it's a U.S. patriotic post, or one that celebrates summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere).  The rules are extremely simple.  Your drink related post may be anything from a photo of a glass, cup, or mug, to an actual drink.  You may choose to share a sketch or a digital, hybrid, or traditional page in your scrapbook, art journal, or altered book.  Maybe you'd prefer to share a tag, or wow us with your photography.  You might choose a postcard or decorated card.  You might even draw an image on a used tea bag.  Or perhaps you prefer to review a place you visited, a movie, or book.  It makes no difference as long as it's drink related.  And don't forget that the more unique and outside the box it is, the better we like it.  Please tie it back here, and please link only to your T post, not your entire blog.  When you link, Bleubeard, the T gang, and I will be by to visit.   Bleubeard would also like to remind you that your photos may be taken any time, even months or years ago, if you choose.

Because Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month, I created this piece for T Tuesday I call Patriotism.

We'll shoot fireworks after dark.

We'll measure our patriotism by the love we give and receive.

We'll bring out our red, white, and blue, the colors of our flag.

We'll pick someone to lead our annual parade.

And of course, we'll celebrate the day with back yard barbecues, swim parties, and boating on the lake.

Materials used for this spread include white card stock colored with handmade shimmering mists through a stencil, a napkin (the fireworks), circles punched from paint chip samples, a heart button, a tag I created on black card stock from some of the pastels I used last month, lace, a length of genuine tape measure, computer generated text, and a TH paper doll.

Bleubeard, my fearless and welcoming co-host and I are delighted you stopped by and invite you to join us at Art Journal Journey after you share your T post today.

Please don't forget you have TWO WEEKS to prepare your ATC for the 4th annual T Tuesday anniversary.

Happy 4th of July! I loved reading and looking at your patriotic post, that table setting is fabulous 😀. Your journal page is awesome and I adore the heart button and the little girl holding the flag. Those textures you created just look like fireworks are exploding on your page. Wishing you happiness this T Day! J 😊

Happy 4th of July Elizabeth and Bleubeard!! Oh yes people are celebrating on the lake... But i often think the 'reason ' behind the celebrating is often lost and i thank you for talking about it..People just want to party...

We are cooking hotdogs on the grill this afternoon but thats about the extent of our celebrating.. we find the fireworks more annoying than anything.. and in our neck of the woods they could easily start a fire...thankgoodness we have been fortunate this year to have had some rain recently that it takes a little of the worry away... Is it me or do the fireworks get louder every year...? not the official ones but the ones people buy and set off.. man.. around here this year they don't don't sound so much like fireworks as mini explosions..

Beautiful journal page Elizabeth and table setting... Hugs! deb

Its a wonderful post to celebrate your special day in the USA. I loved your table setting. I think I would treasure a table like yours especially with its history, thank you for telling me where it came from.
Our whole area had many mining villages and towns, hardly any mines can be seen now, so its good that we have the museum.
The painters work looked true to the lives they had, the background looks colourful and festive. I hope you have a lovely day today.
Happy 4th July and T day wishes .
Yvonne xx.
p.s. Your were right, my drink was tea.

Hey, we used the same TH girl on our journal pages. Great minds think a like. Your page came out great. I like how the fireworks are obvious at first and then the lace really gives it some depth. My page is rather flat compared to yours. And you are set up for a very patriotic tea or coffee this week too. Those tea lights are really cute. Have a fabulous holiday. Hugs-Erika

Great post and love your journal page. Not feeling so patriotic today as the fireworks all over the neighborhood kept the dogs all crazy till late last night. Fireworks are legal to sell by and use here in Missouri unless you live in a town that prohibits them. Living in the country we have to deal with them for about 2 weeks before and after the 4th. Not just the pretty ones but the really loud bang ones that shake the house :( Happy Fourth to you though !!!

Thanks for all of your visits this week Elizabeth!!! It has been an extra crazy week for me as we had a very senior dog show up all frightened by the fireworks and I've been trying to find her home. No luck and all of the No Kill shelters here are full because of the fireworks too. So it looks like she may be staying as I won't take anywhere but a No Kill place. Another shelter would just put here down because of her age. I have registered her with all of the lost pets groups and vets in the area so maybe here owners will show up some day. Just what I need is another animal to take care of :)
