I won't promise to not return to Iceland at some time in the future in my 7 Continent altered book,
but for now, these are the last of the images I have found. These came from a travel magazine put out by National Geographic. My friend Sally subscribes to the magazine, so I was delighted when she passed it on to me.
Another shot of the Blue Lagoon shows it from a different angle. One unique thing I learned was the silica that is apparently so beneficial to your face and skin, actually plays havoc with your hair. They suggest wearing a bathing/swim cap while in the water, then using lots of conditioner after you are out of the pool.
Isafjordur, which means ice fjord or fjord of ice is a town in the northwest area of Iceland. It is off the beaten path, so it was fun to learn a bit about this place where mountains and ice surround the colorful town next to the sea.
There is not much to see in Budir except a country inn, a restaurant, and a famous church people come from far and wide to photograph. Budir is located in the lava fields in the extreme western part of Iceland on the western Ring Road.
For the details, I started with three images from a magazine (not one of the freebies I normally get) and used the last of my orange copy/printer paper to hand write most of the words. This is on the reverse of the watercolor paper I used a few days ago. Some of the ink leaked through, so I didn't mind that it was there. I had all these tiny bits and pieces of trash I was going to throw away, then decided they would make a
In the same magazine, I found this image of Skogafoss Falls, which is located on the southern Ring Road and easily accessible to camping and tour buses. The photo tells it all, and there was little need for much decoration. This was created on a used file folder.
As an aside, according to Wikipedia, the Ring Road, or Route 1, is 828 mi (1,332 km) and circles most of the inhabitable island.
I found this map on Wikipedia. The numbers correspond to (1) ReykjavÃk; (2) Borgarnes; (3) Blönduós; (4) Akureyri; (5) Egilsstaðir; (6) Höfn; (7) Selfoss.

While you could technically drive the whole thing in less than 24 hours, the reality is it will take you at least a week with stops on along the way.Lonely Planet suggests you should plan on 10 days to travel the Ring Road. I suggest you visit Expert Vagabond where you can learn about one person's journey around the Ring Road and all the beautiful scenery he shares. He also pointed out that gasoline is about $2.00 (USD) a liter, which is about $7.50 a gallon (USD). You will love all the photos he took every day for the seven days he traveled the Ring Road. It's worth the visit, and much more informative than my pictures taken from various magazines.
Thanks for visiting today as we took another trip around Iceland. I am so glad you like these imaginary trips I take in my 7 Continent altered book.

I had a friend who visited Iceland and she loved it.
I love seeing the photos you use for your pages but most of all it is the facts that you include! I would probably never read about Iceland and find out so many interesting facts in one article! As for the page - yay! to the rescued scraps!! Hugs, Chrisx

I didn't realize the Blue Lagoon was in Iceland. You're really helping me with my geography.
Have a great one, Elizabeth.
Hugs,
I love your virtual travel tours :) The road trip sounds like an interesting project, but when I think "blue lagoon" I think warm sunny beaches in the tropics lol
This book will be a fabulous travel guide. I have been seeing so many wonderful scenes reading your posts Elizabeth and enjoyed all the information you have added.
