The updated bird cage

Many of you probably remember I made a bird cage from two metal hangers in anticipation of using the bird nest that was drying at the time.

Today I'm going to finish the project using a piece of stick from my front yard and a piece of twine I found on my front porch.  It was part of a tie down from my hot water heater I had installed last summer and was provided by the water heater seller.   Truly trash or compost.

I've had this bird since the mid-1980s, when I was in Los Angeles.  Is Moskatel's even still around out there?

Now my bird cage is complete.

Isn't he a cutie?

He fits perfectly on the perch.   After all, he was designed to be in a flower arrangement.

As I was taking photos of him from all sides,

I was thrilled that I got my hanger wreath I made on Day 1 in the photo.

This is Day 14 of 22 leading up to bEARTHday.  It is also my friend Scott's birthday.  I recycled a piece of twine and repurposed a twig from my yard.  Maybe not much recycling today, but it completed a project I started several days ago.

And of course, I have a good reason for this short recycling project.

My steel drum musician friend, Joseph Peck (see my right sidebar)

and his two sons are here from California (USA).

They will be here for a week.  We are going to the Cosmosphere (in another city) on Saturday, so I won't be around to visit.  However, your continued support of my projects always makes me happy.

How fun for you! It sounds like fun so take a lot of photos to show us. :) And the birdcage came out nice with that little bird hanging in it. The cardinal makes a colorful addition to the blue cage. Have a great visit with Scott and his family and happy Easter and happy trip to the Cosmosphere. Hugs-Erika OH and wish Scott a happy birthday too.

I love your little bird. Cardinals always make me think of my parents after I heard a legend that when a cardinal appears it's a message from a loved one thinking of you.

Enjoy your visit with your friends.

Hi Elizabeth,

How fun to see what's going on in your life. I've been very behind catching up with everyone who was so nice to keep up with me. So first I want to thank you for your wonderful comments. You write the best comments and since I was pretty blue, it was such a boost. I'm especially interested in that GPS thing you mentioned the police are using in your area. I want to learn more about it and pass the word. I still feel so grateful to be alive.

Now, this post! I love the bird cage -- it's a very clever idea and the upcycling is spot on! Nice work. I'm reading backwards so I'm sure I'll see the before parts, too. And I'm so delighted your friend and kids are visiting. It sounds like it will be a perfect time and I wish you lots of joy, happiness and fun during the visit! Well, onto the next post!
