Bird's nest part 2

The nest is finally dry, and I am ready to proceed.  However, I have decided NOT to use the bird cage.

Isn't it a woman's prerogative to change her mind?  After looking at my feeble bird nest, I chose to add it to some other recycled materials.   Before the nest was dry, I added string left over from sewing and glued it in place.

After deciding the copper plate would make a great base, I went outside and collected some of my new bamboo.  Then, remembering Chrissie used her project to add potpourri to the air, I grabbed some dried mint.  This was mint I had dried last autumn, and I have so much of it, I knew I could sacrifice this small amount I used.  As I was assembling the nest, the air smelled wonderful and oh so minty.

But I didn't stop there.  I grabbed three of those horrible plastic eggs I badmouth each year and covered them in bits of leftover vintage sheet music.

They are too big for the actual nest I made, so I was glad I had extended the nest to include them.

For those of you who like to count rocking horses, I see five here.

This is day 12 of 22 leading up to bEARTHday.  I recycled three plastic eggs and repurposed bamboo from my back yard, along with mint I dried last year.

Thank you again for your continued support of my art.  Aren't you glad my blog seems to be fixed?  I know I am!

Loving your musical nest which works since birds can have such a nice singing voice...except for crows...they take their singing from mine:)

Oh doesn't the nest look good with its musical eggs. A very interesting singing bird must have laid them.
Top marks to Scott for mending your blog, he is a treasure.

Morning, first thank you for your visit to my blog yesterday. :)

Wow love that birds nest, I have to say Mrs Pheasant is looking around our garden to see if she can find a suitable place to nest again this year. Last year she raised 14 chicks.

But back to your blog what a great idea and so effective your project. Love those eggs.

Good morning Elizabeth, its good to be able to connect to your blog again.
I love this latest recycling piece, the nest looks fantastic and must have a lovely aroma with the mint additions. Those eggs look great as well and yes I did count the rocking horses.

I think the nest came out perfect and looks real-well the eggs don't because I don't know any bird who lays musical eggs- but I think the eggs are just perfect and make this a really nice piece of spring art. :) I m also curious but that sandwich in your photo. Is it a piece of art or real? It has me scratching my head. Of course at 5:35 AM my brain is still in slow motion as i wake up and get myself started for work. Hope it s a great Wednesday and glad your blog is all fixed. Hugs-Erika

What an amazing project. Everything came together so well in the end and adding the mint is a great idea--never tried drying that so must have a go.

Have a great day

Love Chrissie xx

The nest turned out well and I bet it smells lovely with the addition of the mint. I like the makeover you gave to the plastic eggs. Just curious, but why did you scrap the bird cage? And what will you use your grandma's chipped butter dish for?

Your nest came together quite nicely. Using sheet music to cover those eggs was a great improvement.

I like your nest a lot - looks great on the copper plate. And the eggs are perfect in it. I bet the birds would like it too! Lots of fun things for them to co-opt for their own! This is a great project. Fun to see it!
