Taking Mitzi for a walk
I'm loving this month's challenge theme of "out and about" by Yvonne of Meggy's Way, our wonderful March host at Art Journal Journey. It's hard to stay away, especially when
I have this fabulous new laser printer and these wonderful Aquacolors gifted me at Christmas by Cindy at Pink Bird Studio. This was my first time using these, and I confess I did a puny job coloring the dress. I took Cindy's advice and used my fingers to spread the wet colors, but my fingers don't lie flat like most people's, so I will probably use a brush next time.
Of course, I had to color the used file folder, too.
I give you Mindy taking her little dog Mitzi for a ride.
As I mentioned earlier, I did a very poor job of spreading the color on Mindy's dress. I probably should have left it plain. I noticed after I printed it, that the setting was on the equivalent of "draft" in my inkjet, or it would have been clearer.
It took forever to stencil these five words, but I wanted to put a bit of effort into this one.
Materials included my used file folder, an Aquacolor "crayon," walnut ink background, three different washi tape designs, variegated thread, an adorable image I've had on my computer forever (so have no idea where I got it), and a brown Sakura Micron pen through a stencil.
Thanks for joining me today as I venture out and about with Art Journal Journey.

A superb page! I love how you made her dress personal and incorporated your special style of coloration! That fits perfectly - just taking a brush or a marker and color a dress is just boring ... your coloration is so much more personal and it's YOU - I suggest to do this again and again in your art - keep on with it. Here, and I guess in future projects will this work as well, it brings personal life to the super nice vintage photo. I can imagine how much effort it was to stencil this quote....
You really rock again with supporting Art Journal Joureny! Thank you !
Happy weekend dear Elizabeth!
hugs

Thank you for always finding time to visit my blog and commenting - you mustn't visit on Tuesday a second time Sweetie.. I know well that you like my blog- Thank you!
Such a great idea for the theme Elizabeth. I just love the way you used the colour to highlight a part of the image.
Take care and get better soon
Love Chrissie xx
Wonderful page! I actually like the grunge effect of her dress you created by adding the colour :-). It all looks so beautifully vintage which in love. The main attraction though is dear Mitzi on the gorgeous tricycle, what fun it would be to see them riding down the street :-). Happy Friday and have a great weekend! J :-)
A dog named "Mitzi" - how cute! I thought Mitzis we have only in Germany or Austria ... Your very special coloring is fabulous! I like the harmony of dress and background.
Wish you a fine weekend!
I love the way you coloured the dress, for me it looks fantastic with the wonderful page you created. We all have our own style, if it works for us why try to change it.
I must not forget, Mitzi and the bike is a super image.
I am so pleased that you enjoy the theme Elizabeth and this is another awesome page. for AJJ.

That's a fun piece today Elizabeth. I love playing with watercolor crayons and I think it worked ok on her dress. Kind of like a well worn kids dress from taking Mitzi for lots of drives. :) Practice makes perfect as they say. Have a happy day and hope its a good weekend ahead. Hugs-Erika
Fun! And if the image didn't print as crisp (which I can't tell on my monitor) it will just reinforce the muted tones of a vintage image.
Your page is lovely with your special touches. Glad you are having fun with Yvonne's challenge, she made a good choice. Have a good weekend, hugs, Valerie
I liked the effect on the dress! I thought it looked much better than complete coverage would have. I love how you are willing to experiment!
I love red against a stark background!
I hope you are feeling like doing cartwheels. Okay maybe not cartwheels, but brimming with energy.
Hugs,
This is super fun Elizabeth. That image is wonderful and personally I like the way you coloured the dress. As you play around with those crayons you'll find how they respond to different blending techniques on different surfaces. Have fun! Your file folder background took me a minute to figure out it wasn't a wooden table!
So cute, love the perching pooch and the colorized dress only. xox
Wow this is fabulous Elizabeth! The stencilling may have taken an age but it looks so good here! Hugs, Chrisx
I just love this, Elizabeth! I think your dress is just fine and the photo is so adorable! So many fun techniques involved and you must be having a ball with your new equipment and supplies! That is a great theme!
