T Stands For Haircut Day

Mere days before Christmas, my foodie friend Sally and I had our hair cut.

Sally had called in for both of us, but even though she said we were together, there was someone ahead of me.  I got a horrible stylist who I don't think had cut anyone's hair before, and another stylist had to come finish for him.  I ended up having to tip both of them, which was only fair, but costly.

I had to laugh at the sign because I cut my own bangs, so they should have paid me the $6.00 and only charged me the remaining $6.00.

After we had our hair cut (cut only), we headed downtown to Old Town.

As we walked by the shops,

I was struck by the various Christmas and winter items on display.

I tried to get a picture of the sparkly tree, but the pot outside seemed to overtake the shot.

While Sally forged ahead, I stopped here to take photos of a shop I thought

Darla might find inspiring.

At first I thought Sally might want to stop

at the Japanese restaurant.

We went there once for dinner, but never lunch.

We walked on and contemplated Mexican food, but neither of us was really in the mood for it.

Then we found a familiar spot we both like: Todd Brian's Brick Street Cafe and Tavern.

We always have fun here.

I found their menu online here.

Sally and I started talking and laughing, and I nearly forgot to take a photo of our drinks, let alone the meals we had.  She had a Yo Burger with regular fries, and I had Shrimp Pasta.  As you can see from the menu, they don't exactly cater to vegetarians.

Now it's your turn.  You may share a place you visited, an empty cup, a full cup, teapot, or mug, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below (direct links only, please), then Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that your photos may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday.

EDIT: There seems to be something wrong with Mr Linky.  He may have gone a bit bonky.  Please just add your latest link.  This week's links begin with Valerie at 20.  I greatly apologize, but have no way of knowing how to change it.

I think the link is not quite right, I've linked by 20 although it seems to be the link from last week. Glad you had a nice time with Sally and found time for haircuts. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Loved todays photos and post Elizabeth. You have so much choice of places to eat out and they do look inviting.
It must have been a lovely trip out, the shop windows looked lovely.
Not sure i would go back to the hairdresser if I wasn't happy with folk cutting my hair. Sally's hair looked lovely.
Happy T day

Hi this is my very first post to your link party-have a couple friends that participate and invited me-excited to meet new friends

Now that was a lovely tour around the shops and restaurants. The place you finally chose looks very inviting. Shrimp pasta sounds just my thing!
Oh dear that hairdresser story sounds awful. And you had to give a tip when you were not satisfied. Well, I only give tips when I feel I have been served/treated well. I suppose it is a culture thing.
I have not linked yet, as Mr Linky is showing an old one. Here it's just after midnight and I'm going to bed. I'll visit again when I get up. CU soon,
Lisca

Sounds like you had a very fun day-great window shopping too The person I used to trim my hair has retired, so I am leary about finding a new person who might cut too much off lol

Such a big selection of food. Looks like you couldn't go wrong with any of them. And at least Sally looks great with her haircut! I'm sure you did too, even if you did have trouble with the first stylist-or maybe he was a pseudo-stylist.I always find with my short hair that I can never be sure my hairdresser will get it quite right, even after going to her for over 20 years. but its always ok once I finally wash it. She hasn't quite figured out how to deal with my cowlicks. Looks like it was fun day out! Happy T day.

After spending upwards of $40 for a haircut (wash and cut, no blow dry and no hair product) and the fact that Himself went to the same stylist and his haircut was half the price.( My hair is a hair longer than his.) I started going to one of the chains. All adult haircuts, men and women, were $15.95. Much more reasonable. The closest chain was 1/2 hour away. Then this Summer, another chain type salon opened in the new shopping center 2 miles away from me. I think their cut is $16.95, but still worth it.

I hated giving up the expensive salon. I had been going to the same hairdresser for a number of years and she knew how to cut hair, and how I liked my hair. The chains are hit or miss as you never get the same hairdresser and you can't make an appointment and request someone. Still hair grows back quickly so I don't worry about it too much. I've never had 2 stylist work on my hair because the first one didn't know what s/he was doing. I'm not sure I would have tipped that person. Tip actually means To insure prompt service.

Looks like you have lot of eateries to choose from. And I loved window shopping. I live in a rural town and we don't really have a downtown with businesses and shops. There is a mall 5 miles down the road apiece, but not the same thing. Happy T Day

I enjoyed that you took me with you today---
what nice adventures you and Sally always have! Great!
You would be a wonderful professional reporter !
You are right with the Red you mentioned in your
comment on my blog today! I thought the same - I wouldn't never had made such
RED pieces if Linda hadn't chosen Red for February! And I like the pages I made
- so I won!
This is what I so like about AJJ, that the hostesses choose their own
themes - so it's often a challenge for me!

Happy T Day Elizabeth

Must be time of year for haircuts as I have had mine cut this last week as well. Seems strange to have it short again but it had to be done.

Looks like you found a nice place to eat as usually and Sally looks really happy to be there

Love Chrissie xx

I am so overdue a haircut! Sally's looks great! I would love to see yours - maybe if you are too shy a back of head shot? The place you chose for lunch looks good, although it does seem to have a lot of meat on the menu! We are going out for lunch today so will be around later! Hugs, Chrisx

Thanks for taking us on a stroll through down town with you, it felt like I was there with you. Those hair cut prices - wow - they are cheap :)
I meant to ask previously - is Bleubeard a Chartreux cat?
Happyt T-Day!

Elizabeth, thank you for the kind comment on my post (yours are always very thoughtful, btw ;-). I just popped over here because your geography question intrigued me. I'm geography challenged too, so I Googled it. Yes, we are closer to the equator than you.

Guadalajara is 21 N latitude and Wichita is 38 N. Those few degrees make quite a difference. I also looked up two very cold (in winter) places I've lived for comparison. Milwaukee WI is 43 N. NYC is 41 N. Interesting.

Elizabeth.. thank you for taking us on your 'walkabout'.. Several years ago i decided to let my hair grow long... I used to have it super short... now it is down past the middle of my back on the way to my waist... i trim the ends myself once in a while.. I used to hate going for haircuts as they never seem to do it the way i liked it..and hubby likes long hair.. so win/win.. lol Ofcourse its pulled back in a ponytail most of the time..

The house... thank you so much for your nice comments :) The upstairs is nearly finished except for the kitchen and bathrooms... they will come last... Right now our concentration is on getting the sheetrock done... And downstairs there is alot to do.. We basically have half the craftroom done by done i mean sheetrocked/taped and floated (mud put on) We still have half the craftroom to put up sheetrock... the storage room needs sheetrock and the bath/laundry needs sheetrock... the downstairs TV room/fireplace area has sheetrock but needs to be taped and floated (mudded)... so still along way to go..We are doing the craftroom now because i decided i was getting too old to wait any longer...lol Turning 50 this year.. I hope you enjoy visiting with our new T partier .. i thought you might have alot in common. :) Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb

Bad hair cuts are no fun and tipping someone who was unable to finish the job is not required at all. The shops all look interesting :)

Divers and Sundry said...

What a difficult choice for food! I'd have been happy at any of them.

I can't imagine tipping the person who couldn't finish the job would be expected. Generous of you, but tipping once per haircut is surely all that's needed.

The hair salon prices seem cheap compared to Australian prices.
I badly need a haircut but it's not my favourite place to go, so go for months and months without a haircut!
Nice that you also enjoyed a meal out with your friend.

thanks for the info on the trolley Chris shared. I have never been to an Ikea so I don't have any clue about what all they carry. There is one in the outskirts of Philadelphia which is just over an hour away. We pass it on our way to and from the beach but have never bothered making a stop. Perhaps this will warrant it:)

You and Sally have so much fun!
OMG, the prices. I didn't think you could still get a cut for $12--even a bad one. Ha. You're right, tipping xs 2 gets a little salty.
Now we want a pic of your style:)
Hugs

I had to laugh because I am fumbling around on my smartphone trying to figure out how to copy, paste and link upwith my scheduled post...Then see that Mr. Linky is having a wonky day! At any rate, I enjoyed seeing your trip out. You know the hair stylist is not experienced when they are very hesitant as they touch your hair! Have had my share of those! Thankfully no really bad experiences. Hope your week is a good one...☕

Well, here I am late again!
You and Sally always seem to be having a good time together......great friends are always fun to be with.

After going through beauty school, to be a nail technician, then sitting in a beauty shop for 13 + years, I've become a snob when it comes to letting somebody cut and style my hair. So I don't mind the higher prices for a GOOD cut. I've also had to swear I WOULD NOT try to cut my own hair ever again......LOL!

Your lunch sounded good, I'll eat most anything with pasta, and I love shrimp.

Belated T-day wishes

Trying to play catch up after being unplugged from blogland again.
Sally sure has a nice smile in that photo and she got an important seat right there by the fire extinguisher ;-)
I am trying to muster up the courage to go to the hair dressers but may ask my sister to whack off my ponytail. It's about time to make a hair donation again.
Funny thing I would almost rather go to the dentist than to the beauty salon.
Your story confirms one of my fears E hah!
