Red Hot

I'm joining Linda whose blog is heARTfully Inspired this month's host of Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is "50 Shades of Red."

I call this one "Red Hot."

I hope you feel the heat, because I'm not feeling it.  Unfortunately, I spent the day shopping for groceries for my Super Bowl Sunday get together with friends.  While at the grocery store, several people were coughing and didn't cover their mouths.  When I got home, as I was putting groceries away, I started feeling bad.  As the evening drew near, I started to feel even worse.   So, if this piece seems a bit funky, I apologize.

I began by cutting a heart out and laying it on a used file folder.  Then I spritzed the file folder with one of my handmade shimmering mists.  It is dark like cranberry, but I have mixed several mica powders together, so it's hard to tell what color it really is.

I even burned the bottom of the "Red Hot" sentiment and used pop dots to raise it slightly.

I painted the heart and sentiment with red fluid acrylic and allowed the paint to dry before I adhered them.

I used a black Sharpie to create the words and surround the heart.  Ironically, the mist was still a bit wet when I used it around the heart.  The Sharpie picked up the red of the spray mist, which was a really happy accident.

Thanks for joining me as I join Linda at Art Journal Journey.  I hope to feel better tomorrow and visit everyone before I have to put on my hostess cap before the big football game on Sunday.

Your page is, indeed, hot. Remminds me of the heart shaped cinnamon candies. If you can stand it, try 1 T. of apple cider vinegar and 1 T. of honey in warm water. I usually take it in tea and I add another T. of honey. Feel better.

Wonderful page Elizabeth! It reminds of these red hot heart shaped candies you could get this time of year. Not even sure they exist anymore...
sorry to hear about your shopping experience and the passing of the colds and coughs. I was just talking with a clerk about that and how people who are that sick shouldn't be out spreading their germs. Enjoy your Super bowl Sunday!

Awesome page today Elizabeth. Makes me think of passion and also those little cinnamon candies. Kind of weird I guess. Hope you didn't get full blown sick. Seems like everything is going around right now, at least here. And have fun at your superbowl get together. We are going to a friend's house. I hope its a good game, and you know my team preference...no need saying anything more. Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika

Hope you are feeling much much better and able to enjoy the game this evening E!
It is not hard to pick up germs this time of year with them swirling in the air and stuck on surfaces and coughing unprotected definitely sends them catapulting through the air.
Your RED HOT HEART is wonderful in its simplicity and rich in the layers and special touches.
Singeing the bottom of the paper adds to the HOT feeling.
The red is very pleasing and I am such a fan of he♥rts too!
Take care my friend oxo
