T Stands for Legends then and now

I was removing photos from my camera and realized I had never shown these photos from Legends, although my friend Sally and I love to go there.  I often try to mix my "out and about" T entries with ones I take at home.  However, some months, I go out more than usual, so I don't have a chance to share these photos and they get lost in my computer.

This is Legends in September, 2015,

and this is my friend Sally that same day.

Look at their offerings.   Note the saucers each have those wonderful doilies I always take home, too.

First, we'll begin with soup.

A vegetarian's dream come true.

Then there's the wonderful dessert bar.

There were lots of salad choices, too.

If you didn't care for those, there was always a wonderful mixed green salad.

Since it was Italian day, these were the choices.

It's such a shame this restaurant had to change so drastically when new owners came in.  Not only did the quality (and quantity) of the food suffer, but the prices were increased by $4.00.

Here was Legends on September 9, 2016.

Granted, it had been about six months since we had been there, but we were NOT prepared for the changes that had been made. Note there was only ONE soup choice.

Although I'm not a fan of clam chowder, it looked like there wasn't going to be much this vegetarian could eat on this menu.  We also learned the buffet was now only two days a week, not every weekday as was in the past.  I was most saddened by the lack of those adorable doilies I always got to take home, too.

Coffee still came with the meal, so we both took advantage of that.  Sally went straight to the meat after her mixed lettuce salad, but I smothered my salad in ranch dressing because it was all I chose to eat.  Dessert was in a steamer and it was canned peach cobbler.  They had "whipped topping" next to the hot cobbler, but I tasted it before I added it to my cobbler.  It was that horrible imitation topping, not real whipped cream.  Sad, but true, this restaurant has gone downhill quickly.

After we ate, we stopped by the Warren Theater and Sally bought tickets to Sully in IMAX.  We picked our seats and the attendant printed them out for us, with the seat and row plainly showing.  I admit, I've never been to an IMAX before, so I was looking forward to seeing what all the fuss was about.  I'll share that next Tuesday for T.

Now it's your turn to share your drink related post.  Any drink is acceptable, and any setting is acceptable, as long as there is ANY drink you care to share with us.  Think postcard, movie, fine art, poster art, sketches, digital, hybrid or traditional art, unique teapots, or, as Sally and I did, you might go out and about. Please link your direct blog post, not your blog in general.  When you link, Bleubeard, the T gang, and I will be by to visit.

Sorry that they changed so many of the good things at 'Legends', that is sad. And then to even charge more - even sadder! Hope you will find another nice restaurant to go to instead of this one. Hope you enjoyed the film, and I am looking forward to hearing all about it! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

So sorry that this restaurant has changed and not for the better. A sign of the times. However, I enjoyed seeing your then and now photos. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the cinema but I have a feeling from your mention of the seat and row booked that not all was plain sailing. Looking forward to the next episode :) Elizabeth xx

I find it so sad when "new" owners take a really good place and send it down hill. We have a Mexican restaurant, here in Shafter, that was good....not always authentic, but good, and the prices were ok. New management came in, and after trying it twice.....we refuse to eat there now. Much better.....and true authentic a couple blocks away...*grin*

Goodness, I can't believe they don't have much of a vegan menu, almost everywhere has added good dishes that are vegan now days.

Happy T-day E!

The restaurant looked fantastic before the changes - I love the doilies and autumn decorations and all the yummy vegetarian food, it's such a shame! I'm so looking forward to hearing about your IMAX adventure. Happy T Day! J :-)

IF my comment goes through- I want to thank you so much for linking me up Elizabeth-you are so kind. Haven't gotten hold of Verizon yet -of all times we are also having renovation work and plumbing done in our main bathroom the last two days.
Your photos and menus looked so wonderful and inviting in the beginning. So sorry things have changed for the worse. I have now begun posting reviews because I do believe they are helpful to others. Thank you for hosting a fabulous month at AJJ in September!! Will try and go back to look at previous posts of yours. Happy T day!

It's a shame when things go downhill so fast. Especially when it was a place you liked.

It did look like a super place to eat with so much atmosphere inside and variety of things to eat. Its a shame when places take big changes that turn out not so good for the diner.
The photos were great and I hope you and Sally enjoyed the film.
Happy T day

I always hate when places change hands and the new owners really change a good thing. We've had a breakfast place around us that was great and then went downhill when it sold. I bet that hurts their business in the long run, because obviously if people feel like you, they won't be rushing back. How did you like the movie Sulley? It seems to get high ratings but I'm not so sure about. Was there enough story? I am sure we'll know next week. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

It's a real bummer when our favorite places change and the changes are not for the good. :( Can't wait to hear all about the movie you got to see. We have not been to an IMAX theater yet either.

What a lovely looking spot. Very beautiful and it sounds delicious.

And thanks for coming over to the Gypsy. That's an interesting field for a degree and you are so right about studies relating the workers. Especially longterm health and body issues. I see that in my neighbor who worked for many years at GM. His hearing is shot and his back has work-related issues, too. And while their medical benefits are good, it doesn't solve all the problems or let him hear easily again. Glad you joined me on the Jiffy parade!

That's sad the new owners made changes for the worse. If something a restaurant is doing well why change?
Maybe you'll find something better just down the road!
Have a lovely week Elizabeth.

Its sad when a good restaurant goes bad.... we've seen it happen a few times.... I have been to an IMAX and i think it really depends on the movie you choose to see there... as to whether its a good experience or not as i've had ones that impressed me and ones that did not... Happy happy Tday!! Hugs! deb

Many thanks for your reply to my comment. It was nice to hear from you again. Sadly, Bonnie became so ill earlier this year and nothing could be done to help her so we had to make the devastating decision to let her go. She died on 22 April. I miss her still. I would have emailed you with this sad news but understand that you have been experiencing problems there. Elizabeth xx

What a difference - and what a great shame as I know that you and Sally liked it there! I think I may have mentioned before about a traditional English pub that we used to love changed hands and went 'upmarket' - it became unwelcoming, the food was nothing like as good and it has now closed down! We drove past at the weekend and it looks derelict - such a shame as it is in a lovely setting! I had hoped to join you for T but didn't get to finish my post - at least I will be ready for next week! Hugs Chrisx

I'm sorry they made so many undesirable changes. What a shame :(

I got distracted yesterday, trying to find helpful videos for my lower body exercise days, re-potting plants out on the patio, and the vice-presidential debate and missed T Tuesday entirely! I'm not sure how that happened....

Happy T Wednesday? ;) as I drink my coffee and enjoy your entries from yesterday and today.
