Autumn and Art, more art than autumn

Today. before we visit more Autumn and Art, I'm beginning with a spread I created for Art Journal Journey.  Our wonderful host Valerie chose Indian Summer, which inspired this entry.

I've never claimed to be a painter or sketcher.  In fact, I thought my trees were probably the world's worst quite wimpy.

But I found a quote that seemed to cover the colors I associate with autumn, so used it.

I knew I would never be able to paint a bunch of leaves, so I drew a leaf on a small white eraser and cut it out using a paring knife.  The things we do when we don't have the tools we need!

Two yellows, red, and orange go nicely with the quote and the leaves.

We're back to some high end art at Autumn and Art, the art fair held every mid to late September.  Note autumn has definitely not arrived here.  Only the paintings/photography show what autumn should look like.

While trying to catch up with my friend Sally, I wanted to clarify this art show.  Some called it a craft fair the other day, but in a craft fair, you pick the show you want to display your art, pay for the booth or table, and collect either all or a percentage of the profits.

In a juried show, experts from various disciplines decide if you will be allowed to show your art.  You still have to pay for the booth, but you also have to be accepted by the judges.

I had very little time to take photos, especially those I liked, such as the triptych above.

I even skipped a few booths trying to keep up.  This was not a place I would have stopped, though.

Although I couldn't read the price on the tag, if I remember correctly, it was $245.00 (USD)

I purchased one of those mail boxes one year.  It's a savings bank.

You would need a large wall to display these triptychs.

These painting did nothing for me,

and apparently, the jewelry did nothing for Sally.

These were clever,

and I stopped to take a few

photos

just because they made me smile.

I stopped and admired these.  I envisioned the tall one in a room with only a chair and that sculpture.

I'm sure some of these will make my painting friends happy.

This was a technique I wanted to learn more about, but the gentleman had a possible paying client, so even though I waited around a few minutes,

I had to move on because Sally was not about to stop for me to ask questions.  When I looked through the brochure, he had no web site I could visit to learn more about his art.

A couple of quick photos

of these unique pieces, and I was off again.  Not only did I like these pieces, I liked the lifts he used to display them.

It was time to take a breather, so I could catch up with Sally

and wait for yet another day because we are only about 1/4 of the way through this art show.

While I catch my breath, please visit Art Journal Journey where Valerie's theme is Indian Summer.  I'll be there, too.

Some great pieces on show here, thanks for sharing some more of the art fair. Nothing wrong with "wimpy" trees... and I like the quote.

Your autumn art is fantastic Elizabeth! So clever to make yourself a stamp for the leaves!
Great quote to fit the page as well!
Thank you for joining Valerie's theme again and the show was really great- so much art to see in one place - fabulous! Thank you for sharing - but I can tell you that your art today is much mor art from the heart as all those commercial art in the photos!

Your Autumn page and trees are wonderful and because you created them they are special. I think sometimes we ponder too much and the real 'us' doesn't shine through.

Great pics again of the wonderful Art Adventure playground. I would come away with a head full of ideas and not know where to start lol.

Have a good day

Love Chrissie xx

I love your trees. A wonderful impressionistic/expressionistic feel. And I also loved that very expensive but beautiful poncho/shawl/coat in my favorite blues!

I love the sentiment you found to go with your trees! Had to giggle at the eraser stamp.....I had to create a "brick" stamp to make the painting from Valerie's photo.

I do like the Impressionists art.....just something about them that tugs at my heart.

I would own any of the pottery that you showed....just one more of my weaknesses (I have sooo many LOL)

The long trees, were they painted or mixed media? I found them to be most interesting too. Wish you could have talked to him about them.

The sweater/ cover-up was really priced HIGH, but it was beautiful.

Thanks for sharing more of the art show....I've been really enjoying it.

Thanks for more photos. I enjoyed this look through the art fair, so many different types of art and pottery and sculpture work to offer inspiration. At least Sally was easy to spot. And what good weather you had too.
I like your trees and leaves and I see a little bluebird too. And it's a sunny day in your painting too, that's very nice.

Love your fall art. :)
Sorry, but I doubt I would want to go anywhere that I would want to wander and peruse with someone like Sally who always leaves me in the dust. Reminds too much of my mother--LOL! Not that she can rush around like she used to anymore. ;)

Great quote for your golden trees and Autumn art. The sculpture and the pottery would have been my two favorite places to be in that art and craft fair for sure. Thanks for the views. xox
