Back to School sales

I don't know about other countries, but here in U.S., "back to school sales" are big business, well advertised, and highly anticipated.  They often start in late July and last through much of September.

Mary (remember our student council president whose parents joined the PTA?)

was encouraged by her parents to participate in the "back to school" sales.

She even got to pick out her winter snow suit, which was a bargain because of the sale.  Perhaps you allow(ed) your children to help pick out what they need for heading back to school, too.  Bleubeard is quite pleased he got to pick out his new blue collar.

This page was actually inspired by Erika (BioArtGal), when she recently went shopping at a back to school winter clothing sale.  Materials used for this spread include a sheet of dress maker tissue for the background, a snow suit page pulled from a 1963 annual Consumer's Report, a snowflake embellishment, and computer generated text.

Bleubeard and I, along with Mary, are delighted you joined us today.  Please also visit Art Journal Journey where we're celebrating all things Back to School.

What a fun page, we never had back to school sales when I was a kid in England! Thanks for all you are doing for AJJ, top marks again, and go to the top of the class! Hugs, Valerie

Such a great idea for a page Elizabeth. When I was a child we had clothing coupons and hardly any choice at all in the shops. My mum queued to get anything for us to wear for school and the coupons soon ran out. Everything these days is so 'available' and kids can choose what they like.

Thank you for sparking memories

Love Chrissie xx

I'm glad my shopping could be such an inspiration. :) I remember wearing those snow suits. I used to feel like a little marshmallow walking around. And even more so stuffing my daughter into them so we could play in the snow. This page has a great vintage feel, and I must say, those back to school sales can be pretty inspiring. I just wish they didn't start so early in the summer. For me it seems I just start summer vacation and they are advertising for back to school. :) Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

I love this idea... such a fun page - Yes I always looked out for getting all the things cheap for school as my girl was smaller. All that costs so much money. I always bought the most we needed on our local fleamarket - frugal Mum that I was....

Great new week Mrs. BACK TO SCHOOL Elizabeth!
Hope Bleubeard is happy with the new blue collar!

Mary has a lovely warm coat for the winter. Its a great page and your USA sales are a good idea, here large chain super markets have reasonably prices school clothes available most of the year.
I bet Bleubeard looks grand in the new collar.

Another fun piece. I hope Bleubeard enjoys his back to school collar.
They used to suspend taxes in our state on a specific weekend for back to school shopping, but that went by the wayside....

I know lot of the shops here have special offers on uniforms and Stationery from the Middle of July but there is often little left of school stuff in September! This page is fabulous! Hugs, Chrisx
