The Secret Gardens Behind Butterfly Hill

Today I've created a spread for Art Journal Journey.  The host this month is Yvonne, who we know and love from her blog Meggy's Way.  Her theme is "In my garden there is."

Of course the page I created has a few words.  That's to be expected when you have a journal type entry.

As much as I dislike my own handwriting, sometimes I have to bite the bullet.  Two ink pens were needed to make these words legible, though.

I had a gifted die cut butterfly left over from a swap, and tried to color the wings.  The pens are on their last legs (or wings) though, so it turned out to be sort of a mess.  I'll pretend it's an abstract so it isn't too offensive.

This is Butterfly Hill, and we need to find the secret gardens behind these houses.

For this spread I started in my Coll-AH-ge Two altered book, then added gift wrap with a repeating pattern.  I also included a die cut butterfly and an image from a travel magazine. A sharpie and a Micron pen complete the materials list.

Now let's head to Art Journal Journey for some garden inspired journal pages.  And I don't say it often enough: thanks for your continued support of my art.

Lovely collage, there is so much to look at! I can't decide which images are my favourite - ladybird, sunflower, dragonfly, oh I've just seen the butterfly, topiary tree and the watering can too ... I now have eye candy overload so let's just say I love it all :-). Happy weekend! J :-)

Great page. I love the wrapping paper you used for your background-it gives so much color- and the idea of a secret garden. Hmmm, a think I need a secret garden. And as for handwriting- mine is just awful, as I am constantly being told, but I use it anyhow. It of course makes for part of the art. I think your's is neater than mine so I don't think its so bad. Hope your're having a good start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika

Open those doors and let me visit the hidden gardens. Its a fabulous collage page and that wrap is a super background for the row of homes and the other details you added Don't be hard on your hand writting, you do give it a go. Mine is dreadful and is only used on rare occasions.
Have a good weekend

What a lovely and colorful collage E!
Great how you found the perfect building to compliment the wrapping paper background. Makes a nice statement.
Secret gardens are always a delight aren't they.
and so is yours.
Funny how hardly anyone likes their own handwriting (ask me how I know LOL!).
This is a lovely spread.

That's a great secret garden for the Butterfly Hill houses, and it has so many pretty flowers and leaves and I see a dragonfly.
I love how you make your art (I've said this before, but I do).
Sorry to read about all your recent traumas, hope they are all sorted out now, Elizabeth.
