The Summer of ICADs has arrived

Today begins the Summer of Index Card a Day, or ICAD, 2016.  These 3" X 5" cards are perfect for spending about 30 minutes each day creating whatever I find on my desk or in my scrap bin.

Last year I didn't allow myself to use any glue, but I don't want to limit myself so much this year.  However, I do plan to create a series of hearts, since I am a big fan of both the shape and the symbolism.

Last year I posted once a week on Friday.  This year I'll post every Sunday since July 31 lands on Sunday.  That way I can share my final week of ICADs on that date.  Look for Days 2 through 5 this next Sunday.

There are several places you can join the ICAD craze, but I'm a blogger and not on any other social media site.  That means this is the ONLY place you will find my mini-arts each week.  As always, I am grateful you are visiting here and I appreciate your comments, too.

Yup, I love using hearts too. This is a great index card. I'm not sure I can do one every day but I think I'll join in and make a few. I've never tried using index cards before. How is your backyard? Has it dried out any? Happy June. Hugs-Erika

Kudos for doing the ICAD challenge, and glad you are using up those old file folders. I like file folders better because of the color! I've wanted to do the ICAD challenge but 60 days is just too much for me. I look forward to seeing your cards!

A summer of fun ahead for you! Hearts are a good choice and I'm sure you'll do lots of interesting cards with them. And you added some stitching- good for you. But I agree- no glue would be quite limiting. Have fun.

I think this is a great challenge but I have too much going on to join you. I remember when you did it before and I know you will come up with some interesting art again this year. Looking forward to your posts.

You're off to a great beginning Elizabeth! I always think this would be such a nice challenge but just not in the cards as I am determined to keep going through my Radiant Faces online class which I began over a year ago:) It'll be fun to see all your ICADS!

Thanks for visiting and welcoming me to T-time and also coming to the Bird post. I, too, have a love affair with cardinals!

Good luck with the ICAD challenge! Requires great perseverance and I applaud you for it with all else you do!

Since you email is out I am using the remarks space and hoping it reaches you as I have real issues with posting these days. What I am asking you is about altered books. Are you using them or more "junk Journals".. Reason: At christmas time my bookclub had a book swap and i got a book on political discourse by a right wing smug political writer. I was about to ditch the book when I thought i can use that cover. Then saw that it has signatures and think it is machine stitched. I tried your bending it back and nothing came out. So I am starting. There seem to be 14 signatures in the book. I am thinking of removing from the center of the individual signatures about 4 folios. I am wanting to turn it into a journal. Will it work if I glue two pages together
Thanks for reading this and hope you can offer some insight

I have a facebook account but am rarely on it. I am just a blogger at heart, too. I spend enough time just keeping up in Blogland! This is a nice idea. Looking forward to seeing what you make. :)

Your ICAD's are bright and cheerful and kudos to you for recycling something you already have. I've bought index cards recently and they are becoming almost as thin as copy paper and not as sturdy as I had remembered. I ended up gluing 2 together for the recipes I was saving. Yes I'm still saving recipes the "Very old fashion way" :)

The 3x5 size is a nice little canvas to play with.
Your he♥rts focus should be really fun.
I am a big fan of them too.
Something tells me it will be July before we know so nice to have a creative plan for June.
Happy June E!

Oh nice work with the title and the stitching. Isn't it annoying when a challenge can have entries posted all over the place, rather than having them all in one place. I'll be here on Sunday. Have fun!
