I have photos from two different times I went to the airport. This was from early March,
and this was in mid-April.
I was surprised at how different the grass and the landscapes looked in about six weeks' time.
I hope you enjoy these, photos, some of which are decent, others a bit out of focus.
This and the next photo are of the parking garage that the city built for long term parking.
Note the landscaping is from April, that's how I can tell the different photos apart.
Not many people standing outside in early March.
The airport is on the right in the photo, while the parking garage is on the left. The beige building at the curve is the old airport.
Flowers and landscaping have turned this into a more enjoyable scene.
At least more people are willing to sit outside now.
Soon the building on the left in the photo will be razed by the city.
I wanted to get photos before that occurred. 
This old building holds many memories for me. 
I not only flew out of here several times, 
I also brought my friend Sally here to catch flights to various parts of the country
and I picked her up here many times, too.
I understand the tower will stay, though.
It looks so small for what is supposed to be such a busy airport.
I hope you enjoyed these photos of the airport and a look at history before it all changes forever.

Lovely photos of your little airport. I can see the airport here from my balcony, and it is rather huge in comparison, and it is now called 'airport city'. Fun views. I like the name "Mid-Continent Airport". I am amazed at how empty everything looks though. You could not get a photo without people and cars, lots of cars, in it at our local airports no matter what time of day or night you were there.
Your airport in Wichita (love the mid-continent part of the name) looks just like the Manchester-Boston airport in Manchester, NH. I wonder if airports come in spec plans and then areas pick a plan and use those plans. Or if there are just a few airport architects. I'll have to ask the hubby. He's a civil engineer and specializes in runways, so he knows all kind of airport info that no body else wants or needs to know. And you are teasing us with that piece Elizabeth. :) Hope all has been well and you have dried out again and the weather is just beautiful...good luck with the organizing. I am now reorganizing to add to spinny holder (not sure what it is called) I got at school the other day. Am taking your advice about making some holders out of manila folders. Its actually fun to organize except how I make such a big mess doing it and then I don't get to the art part. Hugs-Erika
And I just read your comment and wanted to mention I had to get my solarfast stuff off the internet too. I ended up buying a class kit for 30 people on Amazon. Was a bit pricey but WAY cheaper than buying things separately. I got enough supplies for a class of 30 people for the price of just the paints- and that included the cloth, transparencies, some foam brushes and markers too. Anyhow, wanted to agree with the using heavy items advice. You can see the rings in the first one which I made with empty cardboard tape rolls. They came out great. But love how people use this to make photo images. Again- have a great day!

Making art for a swap or exhibition or whatever can be incredibly time consuming and I'm not surprised it took you nearly a month.

stopped by to reply to your comment. the Hive at Kew is not enclosed, it's all open, and I didn't see any bees in it... somehow (miracles of technology) they have linked up a real bee hive elsewhere in the garden to this structure so that when the bees in the real hive communicate with each other, the led lights in the Hive structure light up. there is a guide book coming out soon which I will buy and then be able to explain more after another visit!

I remember when airports were fun lol when you could wander around freely and watch planes take off. Not so much fun to just visit them any more. Your photos are fun, though. It's interesting to look at the architecture of airports, I think.
Good ideas to snap some photos before everything changes.
I like the shots with the awning and blue blue sky.
We live about 5 miles as the crow flies from Washington Dulles International Airport. On really windy days we can hear the jets flying over because they have to use a different path. IT always makes me cringe a little because it's so loud. Then I'm grateful we don't have to listen to that every day.
Airports always fill me with excitement.

I felt done in after my last swap, too. It was a biggie -- 24 5x7 pages going to six different people. Whew. So I know what you mean.
The airport photos are pretty neat and good idea to shoot them now. Never been much of an airport fan... but you do what you have to do to get where you need to go.
