T Stands For Sally's Birthday

March 28 is/was my friend Sally's birthday.

I didn't have time to make Sally a cake, so I purchased one for her instead.  After taking about 30 photos of the cake in its holder,

I realized I would never get a good photo of it until I removed the cover.  Yes, that is coffee in my Wichita State University mug.

Before I forget to show these beauties I got from Dianne, I wanted to show my gratitude and thank her for the added goodies she sent

along with the tip-ins she shared last week.  Unfortunately, I had already put some of the stash away and had to pull some of it back out to share with you.  Thanks Dianne.  I promise they will be put to good use.

Sunday morning, while I was waiting for my old, slow computer to upload some photos, I was shocked to see it had snowed.  It was lovely, fluffy snow

that covered everything except the gorgeous tulips that had just bloomed.  You can see them in the middle far left next to my driveway in this photo.

By the time I got outside, the snow had stopped, but the evidence of it was everywhere.

If you visit often, you will notice I cut my rose bush and Rose of Sharon bush a few days ago.  I definitely need to repair several of my wind chimes that have taken a turn for the worse.

This looks more like January than Easter Sunday.  As an aside, the wild fires that have covered about 400,000 Kansas acres are now 81% contained.  Between the Blackhawk helicopters on loan from the military, the reduced winds, and the snow, firefighters saw a marked improvement in containment on Sunday.   By the time my visitors arrived, most of the 3.5 inches of snow we received had melted.

Thankfully, the snow was completely gone this morning (Monday) as evidenced by this photo when I took Sally's cake to her.  Tuesday I'm taking her to Legends for Mediterranean food.   I'll take you with me when I do.

I want to include a bit of "housekeeping," where I remind you to dig up your Second on the 2nd post.  April  2 will be here before you realize it.  Please invite your readers and followers to join in, too.  The more the merrier.

Speaking of April, just as I do every year (for those of you new to my blog), beginning April 1 and continuing through April 22, which I call bEARTHday, I will share a recycled, repurposed, reused type post each day beginning shortly after midnight my time.  For most of Europe, that will be either 5 or 6 am, providing you are on Daylight Savings Time.  So please join me for some new posts each day and possibly a couple that were popular over the years.

Now it's your turn to share a drink related post.  Feel free to discuss anything, as long as, in some way, you can relate it back to a drink, any drink.  Then, please link these stories below.  The photos don't have to be taken on Tuesday, and can relate to anything with a drink.  Please use the direct link to your T post, not your blog in general, so we can find you easily.

Happy Birthday month to Sally!
That cake looks yummy and so do those goodies from Dianne.
Your snow photos are beautiful Elizabeth.
I guess it was good in a way for damping down your fires.
Sorry to hear you all are going through that.
So much bad news these days.
Hope you have a Happy T Day and last Tuesday of March.

p.s. your tulips are so pretty and tough to still be standing tall after that wet snowfall ♥

I was thinking yesterday it was time for bEARTHday. I always love your posts during your special time. Sally & my DH share a B-day. Wishing Sally a lovely birthday with a beautiful year. I love your neighborhood. It reminds me so much of mine. When I was a little girl in Wichita those neighborhoods were very part of my life. I will always treasure them. I love your windchimes. I collect windchimes. My husband's Mother passed away earlier this year. My husband does not know his family very well. She was a drug addict, bless her. When they came down to tell my husband of the loss they kept staring at my windchime collection like they quite couldn't understand it. Least that brought a smile to my husband's face during that stressful time. Now, I think he's looking for even more windchimes to keep crazy family members away, lol. Can I say every single time you share pictures of your porch I covet your peacock chairs. Those chairs are so in demand right now. Going for quite the high dollar. I am glad the fires are contained. Breaks my heart over the home losses. I hope the families will be able to rebuild even better than before.

Oooh! Love the look of the cake! Great gifts from Dianne too! The snow looks magical and a blessing for the fact that the fires have been dampened! Those tulips are doing well to stand up after the cold! Have a lovely celebration today! Hugs, Chrisx

Oh, that cake! Sally is lucky to have you for a friend.

And the snow - it makes your place look like something out of a story book. We have it, of course, but it has none of that freshly fallen magic. It is thawing and pooling and smelling like dog poo...

Happy T-Day!

Wow! Snow! I bet you are glad it all melted again and the tulips are visible in all their glory. Beautiful they are too.

Belated happy birthday to Sally. That looks like a yummy cake!

I love the craft supplies you showed. Lovely earth colours.

Thank you for reminding me of 2nd on the 2nd. Is that about posting an old blogpost from some time back? I will try to remember and dig one out in the meantime.

Have a lovely week,
Blessings,
Lisca

Yum- store bought or not that cake looks good. looks like you and Sally (and maybe some other people) had a fun little party. You are really good friend Elizabeth-helping cleaning homes with friends, celebrating birthdays. Like you mug, although I'd like it better if it had the Maine Black Bears on it. Ha-ha. That snow does look pretty-so long as I don't have to drive in it. They are saying we might be get more snow on Sunday- oh my. We will see-it is still so early. Have a great T Day! Hug-Erika

Sally is lucky to have a friend as wonderful as you. Chocolate and then some. Nice stash gift from a friend, I know you will put it to good use. You never lack for a project or fail to recycle in some way. At least the snows are disappearing as fast as the appear. Xox

well happy birthday to Sally! What a delicious looking cake. Can't believe all the snow so many have gotten-and at Easter time yet! So glad we didn't have any of it here in my area of PA-I would not have been a happy camper. Love those papers Dianne sent you and I know you will use them well along with the other goodies. Happy T day! Looking forward to celebrating your "bEARTHday" :)

We only got rain here...Glad it helped with the fires.
Yummy looking cake. Wonderful gift from Dianne. Gorgeous papers there.
Your Wichita State mug reminds me that I had to tell you that J got a letter from there among the ton of colleges that have sent them fishing for applicants. He took the PSAT as a 10th grader, so they want ambitious kids I guess.
Happy T day!

oh, the cake looks delicious! I love that the stores are offering the smaller cakes now...perfect for just a few servings. Beautiful snow photos, and sounds as though it was useful to help put out the fires too! Glad you liked the stuff I sent. I always wonder if I am sending things you will have no liking/use for. Loving the photos of your tulips!! and looking forward to your BearthDay month! :) ♥

Happy Birthday, Sally!
I was going to commiserate about the snow until I saw it helped put out the wild fires. What a blessing.

Happy birthday, Sally!

We had a high in the 70sF on Easter lol. Wow! Snow! I do remember a deep snow on Easter when I was little, but usually any snow is but a memory by the time that day comes.

Happy Birthday Sally!!!

I remember having snow, on Easter, when we lived in North Dakota....same town as Rita is in now. There is even a picture of my brother and I all dressed for church.....standing in the snow. LOL!
