Famous Marie
I'm back and ready to share this quick entry I made for Moo-Mania and More. My art friends there chose Famous People as the challenge this fortnight and I nearly didn't make it home in time to join them.
While looking for something for another challenge, I ran across these images of Marie Antoinette and knew I could use them in this challenge. I created this in my "Altered, an AB" altered book, which is nearly full. I laid down some blue pigment ink I hoped would compliment the borders on these pictures I cut from an old Reader's Digest. Since it looked a bit stark, I also added a bit of lavender pigment ink in spots.
I created a crown for Marie to go with her picture.
Here, Marie is, at the age of 14, under the spell of King Louis XVI as he gives her a lovely necklace. This is not the famous diamond that would eventually lead to the downfall of the Monarchy, however.
In later years, Marie defied everyone by dressing in simply garments and holding her head high after being convicted of high treason.
It's good to see everyone again, because I'll be spending time on the computer tonight and tomorrow catching up on all the art and "gossip" I've missed from my internet friends. And please don't forget to visit Moo-Mania and More for lots more famous people. But you'll have to hurry if you want to join in, because this challenge is nearly over. And thanks to all for visiting while I was gone.

Beautiful page with Marie Antoinette, thanks so much for joining us at Moo Mania and More. Hope you are now settled in at home again. Have a good weekend, hugs, Valerie
Beautiful Marie A piece. I love those old illustrations. She is so regal in them, and so ornate in that French dress. She was an interesting character for sure. I read a wonderful book by Sena Jeter Naslund about her several years ago and I recommend it if you have an interest. Hope you had a wonderful journey, any photos? Glad you are back too!
I love this! Hope you're having a great weekend, unaffected by weather.
Beautiful Page! Marie Antoinette is one of my heroes and most admired women. I really loved your page.
Marie Antoinette seems to be a favorite of many and you did her real justice on this page. Just lovely.
Look at those hairstyles!

Nice images you found, works well with that icy blue. Their dresses sure were elegant, but I don't know how they wore those wigs, ugh. xox
These old illustrations are fascinating, how very different from us.
I see you placed them on the "Passive Solar Energy" book page, quite amusing.
