Finally: a completed project

For Day 4 of AEDM, I'm finally finishing a project I've had hanging over my head for nearly a month.

Some of you may remember I made this assemblage back in October.  You may have wondered why I didn't finish it.  The sad truth is, I loaned my crop-a-dile to a friend and finally got it back yesterday.  I'm now ready to finish it.

I'm not sure you can tell where I drew pencil marks to show where the holes in the book cover should be, so I placed the pencil directly below the left hole.   That was one of the hardest things I have done, and have reminded myself to not make any more of these assemblages without first punching holes in the book cover and backing.

The wire is finally attached, but I couldn't find the bead I originally made for it,

so had to make a new one.  I used some really heavy copper wire that I had recycled.

That's why I'm not sure what gauge it is, but I'm guessing either 12 or 14 ga.  Yes, it's heavy.  I'm just THRILLED that I can finally add this to my list of completed projects, even though it took nearly as long to wrangle that wire through all those layers, especially the area behind the flowers, as it would had I actually created something new.

Today is Day 4 of AEDM and I finished this project by adding a wire and bead to my first ever book cover assemblage.

Thanks for visiting, and it's so good to visit many of the people who participate in this event each November.   However, please remember, if your blog doesn't allow anything except G+ responses I can´t comment on your entry or leave you a comment.

This project turned out so beautifully! I really love the combination of flowers, fabric, image and stitching. The bead is fab too! I am impressed that you were able to use the crop-o-thingy with your hands...it sounds like you would need quite a lot of strength, but I haven't actually used one myself. I do remember trying to punch holes in leather with a similar tool and it was often difficult. Good for you completing the project!! ♥ gorgeous!

A gorgeous piece, beautiful flowers and fabrics. Keep the 'croc', safe, they should never be let out on their own.

Well done for completing this beautiful hanging! Sounds like a bit of a wrestle with the copper wire but looking at it now must surely make you smile! Commenting problems on the way as we are off to the caravan - meeting up with Jo of Jozarty and hubby tomorrow - looking forward to that! Hugs, Chrisx

I've never owned a crocodile, but I find a hammer and punch works just as well (must be a bloke thing :D)

Love the assemblage.

Well that is looking spectacular. I absolutely love the addition of the wire and bead. Don't you hate it when projects sit around and hamper your other creativity. It's like they yell at you daily. FINISH ME, I'm here!! Hehehe. Obviously we take art seriously if inanimate objects yell at us because they're our art. Have a great day Elizabeth!

What a great book cover. Lots of texture. I can imagine how hard it was to punch those holes.

Those machines are really incredible. I have the one that pushes down, which to me is more ergonomic. I love that thing. Funny how we adore certain tools in our arsenal of making. Love this book cover. So glad you were able to finish! xox
