Today I'm joining Try It On Tuesday (even though it's Friday) with their latest challenge which is Sending You Flowers. And for the first time ever, I'm combining three challenges, because I'm also joining Art Journal Journey whose theme for August is Time, as well as Moo Mania and More whose theme this fortnight is Embellishments.
Once again, I scanned my altered book which is larger than the scanner, but much faster than taking photos and trying to get them off my SD card (which is now a big hassle). Yes, these are the flowers that TIME forgot.
I first painted the large flower using my handmade shimmering mists. Instead of misting, I simply stuck a paintbrush in the bottles and painted a flower. Sorry, I can't tell you the color names because I mix mica powders together to get the color I want. Originally, I was planning to make a sunflower, but when I saw how the petals had feathered so beautifully, I decided to cut them into a fantasy flower, instead.
This is the other half of my mop-up Viva brand paper towel (or kitchen towel for those of you across the pond) I used on the The Reason For Time. I rotated the background 90 degrees to give it a different look.
A few step out photos show the fantasy flowers I cut roughly into circles and added an embellishment to the center.
I used the only Time rubber stamp I own on the center of each petal.
More embellishments were added to the center of the flower that took up most of the left side of the spread. A real clock hand, a gifted hand that came from the scrapbook industry, and part of a silk flower were the embellishments I used for this flowery centerpiece.
The background of two of these flowers was made using bubble wrap and acrylic paint. The centers were gifted clocks also from the scrapbook industry. The tallest fantasy flower started with my shimmering mists to which I added the clock stamp. The stems were hem tape, that lovely tape real seamstresses use when they add seams to skirts and pants.
Another clock center embellishment was used on the third flower and three silk leaves were cut for the stems.
Materials used were my experimental altered book as my substrate, a mop up paper towel, handmade shimmering mists, various clock embellishments, a clock hand, a rubber stamp, a silk flower, silk leaves, computer generated words, and hem tape.
I have been lucky this month with my entries at Art Journal Journey whose theme for August is Time and Moo Mania and More whose theme this fortnight is Embellishments, but when I saw the Try It On Tuesday theme, it all came together quite nicely. Granted, I don't have the lovely flowers or flower dies I saw used by some of the DT members and entrants, nor can I draw like other DTs and entrants. So I was a bit hesitant entering this challenge.
I sincerely hope you like it, my fantasy flowers that time forgot.

Your pages are beautiful, love the colours and how you have put it all together. You have done everything by hand, and that is, in my opinion, much better than using a die to cut things out. Handwork, imagination, lovely colours and embellishments - you did it all! Thanks for joining us at TIOT, Moo Mania and and Art Journal Journey - much appreciated by all challenges!
Have a nice day, hugs, Valerie
PS It was funny to think of you eating your Thursday dinner when it was Friday here!
You did it in your way-- and it is UNIQUE and beautiful!
I love all about your spread Elizabeth and I am thrilled about it and I am also thrilled about your entering three challenges at one!
Very happy to have you with us at TIOT, ART JOURNAL JOURNEY and MOO MANIA & MORE !

Love it: the clock flowers, the vibrant colour, the idea behind it - this is an image to contemplate.
Really lovely handmade spread. Love the sweet colours and beautiful embellisments. Thank you for joining us at TioT.
I like the way you put this together, and I love the way you made the flowers. Fun ideas. I'm going through your tutorials today, starting with "backgrounds". Thanks for offering this :)
Wow- you used those clocks extremely cleverly. Especially the ones in the petals. I would have never thought to put them there, and until you look close you think they are just pretty petals, but then, the surprise!!!! Beautiful page today!:)
What a fun theme! I am impressed that you were able to tie not two, but three challenges together! Wow! I like the fantasy flowers a lot, and they certainly complement the quote!
Super cool! I'm glad you did a close up of the flower...I hadn't seen that the petals were clocks before that. Awesome job!!
A realy beautiful journal page the flowers are lovely, and go so well with the quote. Thank you for sharing it with us at TioT's as well, its good to see you there this time.

Lovely, soft colors! And lots of techniques used- interesting.
I love this take on the theme. Very clever use of the time elements. I was particularly impressed with the use of hem tape.
Like your flowers...and your use of all the elements in your wonderful studio. Thanks for the nice visit this morning. I look forward to seeing how you interpret on the machine, you are a machine whiz with all you stitch. I just started a piece on the machine because I couldn't possible hand stitch it all unless I spent the next year. But I do love the meditation. xox
Superb challenge combining Elizabeth, with a FABulous page!! Have a great weekend :D
a gorgeous spread, elizabeth... i love the construction of the flowers with the lace ribbon as a stem... the added clocks are so beautiful. you combined the challenges very clever!
So great how you put everything together! lovin' the texture of the lacy seam binding, and those clock flower centers are awesome! your altered book is going to get thicker and thicker with all the yummy ephemera you are using!
I love your fantasy flowers. Adding those clock faces to the centers of the flowers is wonderful. And stamping the petals on the large flower is perfect. Great pages!
Wow Elizabeth!!! You really did an excellent job on this layout!!!! Love the whole thing and so glad I got to see it ♥♥♥♥
Your clock petaled flower is wonderful as is your entire spread here.
Great mixed media creation.

My comment must have been eaten by the internet - but then it was at the caravan AND from my phone!! I love this Elizabeth, especially the lovely edge to the large flower and the way you added the clocks to the petals!! The flowers on the right hand page look so fabulous with those stems - such a clever idea! Glad you joined us again at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
