T Stands for Winner (after the party's over)

Now that the party is over and the winner has been drawn, it is my pleasure to announce the winner.  However, before we get to that, I'll keep you in suspense for a bit longer and show you how I spent last Tuesday evening.  And I didn't pay a cent, either, so it was all free for the Queen of Free.

Unfortunately it started out rather badly, with tons of rain and flooding.
Of course, that didn't deter me, because I had been to Sally's all day, helping her clean out her garage.  When the rain started coming down in buckets, I ran home like a drowned rat, but a quick shower helped and a big fluffy towel dried me off nicely.   And here we were

at our first destination.

I had seen an ad on TV that Applebees was giving away two free appetizers at participating restaurants.  I called the one closest to us and off we went.

On the phone, I was told each of us would receive two free appetizers, but the person didn't tell us

we had to share them.  Since Sally was hungry and neither of us had eaten all day, which didn't bother me, since I only eat once a day, anyway,

she ordered three more appetizers and a Thai shrimp salad.  I was content with my free portion of the appetizers, but Sally insisted on sharing her salad and the other appetizers, which came at various times, rather than all at once.

By the time we had finished our meal, I waddled out of the restaurant and we were off to our next destination.

Both Sally and I had gotten two free tickets

to the ZOO!!

It had been years since I'd been, and I was thrilled to see it was all new to me.  I took over 300 photos, and, after I cull through them, will share them over the next few weeks.

Now that you've seen my freebie day, I'm proud to announce that Patty of Magpie's Nest is the winner of my ATC.

It's pretty obvious how I made it, but I'll still walk you through the steps, anyway, even though this post is long already.

I began by spritzing two colors of my handmade mists on a dictionary page I chose for my background.   I then colored two pages of card stock with Staz-on reinkers and 91% alcohol.  I like this technique because the card stock never buckles, but stays completely flat.

Next, I printed my tea cups on the dried card stock and cut them out.  I also printed the words on printer paper, then colored the words using dye ink.

Once the dictionary page was dry, I sewed around the page.  This was for decoration only, and was not used in place of glue.   I then adhered the sewn dictionary page to my ATC back.  I used a glue stick because the dictionary page is quite fragile.

For the assembly, I used a piece of foam tape to lift the green cup off the page.

Patty, your ATC will be in the mail tomorrow.

Now it's time to share your T Stands for Tuesday post.  Be as brief or as lengthy as you like, share your ATC, or wait until you hear from your PIF partner.  It makes no difference, but be aware, we are using Mr. Linky again, so I can't remove your post in the event you get it wrong the first time.  Please observe the rule that you must share a drink or drinking vessel, whether it's through art, photography, or an actual glass, cup, mug, or pot.

Well what could be better than a 'Free' day. Good for you! I know there is a lot of controversy over zoos, but I am grateful that they exist. I would never have had the opportunity to see most of the animals if zoos did not exist and neither would my children. We live in a more enlightened time and there is a lot of people pressure for zoos to be sensitive to the animals needs so I do not feel guilty about visiting one. Also, they play a vital role in keeping endangered species alive and aid in increasing the numbers of some endangered creatures too, through breeding programmes.

Your atc is wonderful and I bet Patty will be delighted when it arrives in her mail box.

Happy T Day Elizabeth :D

I LOVE going to the zoo! I look forward to your photos.

I've had so much fun learning about ATCs. I've made 19 so far and am enjoying trying to come up with different things to do. I mailed mine off to Brazil today, and that was fun :) I appreciate you detailing how you made yours. I've been using Elmer's Glue all; I think I'll try glue sticks.

Freebie day! I've never heard of that! Great! I'd love to go places and not spend anything. They don't do anything for free in this country. Well, it looks like you had a fab day!
The ATC is lovely. It doesn't look very difficult. I'm encouraged by that. I've yet to try out making an ATC......
Have a good Tuesday,

your free day surely was a fantastic day... and we will participate seeing the zoo photos soon... i love Zoos. yes, there are discussions, but the ones i know hold the animals in a manner that Comes quite Close to their natural Habits. not the tiny Cages of former days...

What a fun day, I love to visit zoos too. We have C.A.L.M ( California Living Museum, not sure what the A is supposed to stand for). It really isn't a zoo, here is a list of the animals, no exotic ones, just animals of this area so they can survive or weather. http://calmzoo.org/animals/. Looking forward to your zoo pictures. We do go to the San Diego Zoo every once in a while....LOVE it.

The golf cart has a license plate because it is street legal. They don't do that any more, and one of the reasons Bob bought that one. I feel it is too dangerous to ride on the street and will only use a street a short distance to get to an off road area. Here at home we go out and ride along the canal banks. BUT it is a lot of fun to have down on the sand at the beach.

Must continue on with my return visits.....I did get Carol's info...thanks. The house is eerie quiet this morning....haven't had any alone "me time" in a while.....LOL

Wow Elizabeth that was alot of food!!! But it did look yummy! AND a free day at the zoo!! Zoos tend to make me sad... to see all the animals caged but i reason that you have to bring the animals to the people for if the people do not see them and get to know them how can you expect them to care about what happens to them... Plus some zoos have an excellent breeding program.Love your ATC. Patty is a lucky girl!! You know i try using glue sticks and they always let me down... they always pop loose... Maybe its something i'm doing wrong.. I always end up having to go back with wet glue and reglue it.. grrrr... Happy happy T day!! Hugs! deb

My goodies landed in Virginia Elizabeth!
Thank you SO very much for everything!
The ATC is even lovelier in person and it already looks super here on your blog.
The star tissue paper you included has my heart going pitter pat...
I really am a paperhound and truly adore it! Many thanks to you.
It was so thoughtful of you to share some of your rubber stamps with me too. Extra special since those images reminded you of me (awww).
Thank you!
I have to say I like the Kansas postage stamp that you used on the envelope too...a new one to me.
The teapot and cup you stamped on the envelope sure look special too.
It was my lucky day winning your anniversary giveaway.
Thanks again oxo
