WOYWW 281: The one where she returns to the fold

I'm back and joining Julia, my dear internet friend at Stamping Ground

with my latest new storage unit.

But first, it's time to get the obligatory rocking horse(s) out of the way.  I may have shown one of these before, but never both and never together.

I came up with the bright idea to create a legend, so I would know what was in each tray.  Not so bright when I realized I could remove the trays and take them with me to various areas of my craft room or basement studio.

That's when I decided to figure out a way to adhere removable labels to the trays.  (As an aside, the plastic tubes will be cut to hold the bobbin thread from wandering and getting tangled)

But for now, I'm sticking with the legend as it stands, since most of what I have in these drawers so far is thread and a few rubber stamps I've segregated for easy access.

The two rockers I showed before were for "show."  These three will now live on top of this rolling cart.

Our beloved Julia likes us to keep things short, so I hope this hasn't been too boring and long.  I might have gotten a bit carried away since I'm so happy to be back among my friends and WOYWW family.  I ask that you please leave your number, since it's so much easier to find you that way.

Hi Elizabeth! The first set of horses are rather dignified, and the second are more whimsical! You know I sent you a second ATC with a rocking horse for the anniversary and as it still has not arrived I suppose that is lost too! :^((( Oh well... one day i will make a third, They say the third one's a charm, so I expect you will get that one...when I get to make it!!! Nice to see your new organizer. I make a legend for my whole room!!! It's very useful! #6 patsy (wow! I actually remembered to put a number!)

Love today's rocking horses! Your new storage unit looks very useful (and full already). I hope your labelling works well for you. (yes, they are mica powders, they're new and if I'd thought about it they could have featured properly on my desk, lol!!) Helen 4

What a fab organizer .. reminds me of the hairdresser there were the hair curlers for the permanent curles in such an organizer... good 20 years ago I had my last permanent curles... was a stupid hair fashion lol. Ma hairdresser told me there are still older women getting this nowadays....
o.k. why not ... it was handy ....

I saw such an organizer at IKEA's recently... for sure I will take such a thing for me when my craft room will be ready once.

Now these are really lovely rocking horses, I think I like the second pair more, not really sure why. I still have a rocking horse die cut on my desk to post to you, hhmm must get that UFO out of the way too. I have special containers for my bobbins and threads and it keeps them perfectly and labelling is a must, I have everything labeled. Hope you have a wonderful crafting week.

Morning Elizabeth, what a super storage unit, the drawers are not too deep, just right for sewing threads, and such a lovely array of colours too.
Those horses are all very dignified and superior looking.

Elizabeth, you're back!! Hooray, I've missed you :-)
Blimey girl, you have more threads and bobbins than I do!! I think I'm sadly lacking in the thread department, especially the metallics. I'm hoping to get more into free machining embroidery so I may have to go on a little of shopping expedition...oh dearie me :-)

Welcome back - and what a lovely thing to collect, rocking horses. They are so evocative of childhood, I reckon. How organised you are! My threads just cosy together (and overflow) in a large sweet tin! I always have to untangle, which makes your plastic tube idea a great one! Happy WOYWW, Chris # 3

Your wooden rocking horses are so very handsome and compliment one another very nicely E!
Great storage you have there. I have a similar set up but made the mistake of loading up a couple of the drawers and when they got heavier they wanted to slip out of the tracks...clearly a case of too much stuff here.
Making a chart of what you have in your drawers = wowee that IS very organized...maybe in my next life LOL

Gorgeous rockers!
I had one of those storage units when they first came out. I LOVE the concept, but the screws kept loosing up and the drawers would slip out of the tracks. Maybe it was because I thought it would hold everything I own.....LOL I finally kept the drawers and the metal top and trashed the rest of it. I have found, for me, the Iris carts are the best, but they don't have as many drawers. Now I see more and more of this style of cart in Blogland. They must be designing them a little better.....but I think it was just me....grin

This morning i was without internet service due to some technical issue that despite a detailed explanation sort of whirled over my head. That is a good way to store thing . Being able to move the drawer means you don't have to remember to move the used items. Like the horse collection. My new kitties like Bluebeard.

Hi Elizabeth and Bleubeard, Happy WOYWW.

I love your new unit. I tried labelling my stamp boxes but as I have around 40 of them and I keep rearranging them better - or I did, and lately selling a few, and the labels and numbers I have tried so far have all fallen off at some point - I sort of gave up, but I really should do it, I bought a label printer and have never used it!
Love the rocking horses, especially the little one.

I've seen those carts before...although I think they had more colorful drawers. Anyway...I considered one myself but didn't pick one up. You'll have to let me know what you think of it after some use.
