I had another post I was planning to share, but it's still on my SD card and my time is limited today. So this one is short, sweet, to the point, and extremely timely.
Tuesday evening I'm hosting a Safe Communities national (US) event for my neighborhood. If your neighborhood participates, I hope you at least put in an appearance.
I'm also taking care of my friend Sally, just home from the hospital and not recovering as well as she thought she would. In fact, she called me last night around 11 pm and asked me several silly questions that made no sense. I went down and got her calmed down and back in bed and stayed with her till she went to sleep.
Because our neighborhood has changed dramatically over the past several years, I decided we should have a bi-lingual event. I'll be preparing cocoa for the kids and tea for those adults who don't want coffee. I talked Starbucks into donating the coffee, which is one more item on my "to do" list before the party.
I look forward to reading your T post this week, but be aware, I may be out and about running many errands like buying groceries for the party, mowing my lawn, caring for my friend Sally, setting up the tables, baking a casserole, making the drinks, and having a nervous breakdown. So, if you don't hear from me till Wednesday, know I'm either busy working or sitting in a padded cell somewhere.
Be sure to add your link that is drink related in some way, then join our little party, invite your friends, and sit awhile. Bleubeard reminds you the photos and your tale (not tail) can be taken any day, not just Tuesday. Hope to see you soon.
If you live in the US and want to get your post in early this week, it would help ensure that I visit you in a timely manner, since Tuesday in the US is going to be a very busy day in my world.

Hi Elizabeth. Sorry I have been MIA but I have been on your side of the pond recently. I hope you don't mind me sharing my Journal with you but I know you like books.
Sorry to hear Sally is poorly. Send her a Welsh hug from me.
Hugs
xx
PS Well done on getting Starbucks to part with coffee! I hope your event goes well.
xx
Hope your event goes well and that Sally recovers quickly! Congrats on being the winner in the Altered Playing Card Challenge!!! What fun to win a package of art supplies!!!
Huge Congrats on winning The APC Elizabeth, hope that cheers you up!
Hope Sally recovers quickly, you sound like you are being run ragged! Well done on getting Starbucks support for your event. Hope you will be well enough to enjoy:-) xxx
My goodness me what a busy busy bee and what a fabulous friend, neighbour and community member you are!! Just remember to look after yourself too, you can't help others if you're in that padded cell ;)
Best wishes for your event and best wishes to your friend Sally for a speedy recovery (hugs) :o)
Woman after my own heart.
Saving the world one pot luck at a time!
You are such a good friend! Sally is lucky to have you as a neighbour - I hope she improves soon for both your sakes. I hope you have a great potluck and hooray for getting Starbucks to donate something - I have not heard they have a reputation for being particularly good (or bad) corporate citizens so this is great. I always try to patronize local businesses that support local events. And bilingual - do you speak Spanish? I'm impressed! Despite a few years of French in high school I remain sadly unilingual. Good luck tomorrow!
Sally has a great friend in you. Hope she is ok now.
I cant wait to hear all about the pot luck and some photos if you get to take them

What lovely event, my friend and it is bilingual! Super cool!
great job(s)all the way around.
your community, your neighbors, your friends are fortunate to have you on their team.
and Starbucks too! yey!
Wish the best for your event Elizabeth!
Wonderful idea!!!!
I hope your event goes well and Sally is feeling better soon. And definitely don't have a nervous breakdown. I can tell you they are not fun! Look after yourself
If they put you in a padded cell find some way to let us know and we'll come bust you out, LOL!
Looks like a great event. Give Sally my best wishes, I feel like I've come to know her through your pictures.

Sounds like a nice event similar to a block party to get to know your neighbors. Our neighborhood has barely changed in the 20+ years we are living here--most of the people on my short block are related to each other or are friends. They are all nice people!
Sorry Sally's recovery is harder (on both of you) than she expected. Hope she improves everyday--she is lucky to have a good friend like you.
Congrats on winning the APC prize--so happy for you!
I hope Sally gets better soon!
I hadn't realized National Night Out had changed its name. I've heard of their activities in the past, but your post is the first I've heard of it this year.
The community event sounds great and they are lucky to have you at the helm organizing and help make it happen.
Please give Sally my very best wishes...sorry to hear she's doing poorly.
You take care and don't run yourself ragged.
I am looking forward to catching up with everyone.
Hugs to Bleubeard too!

oh dear...no breakdowns allowed! have fun with the party, I am sure it will be a success...you are a good sport and very brave to be the hostess! Love that your invitation is bilingual. Since I don't speak Spanish, I'd have had to find a computer program or another person to do that! Best wishes to Sally for a quick recovery. Sounds like maybe her medications were making her confused. What a good friend you are! good luck, and try not to overdo it yourself! hugs...
You are a busy bee too!! I'd been wondering where you've been.
Happy T day!
Oh, poor Sally, give her my well wishes. It is a tough recovery, glad your there to help Sally good friends really are priceless!
Your event sound like a lot of fun, and a lot of work. Padded cells are nice too......LOL
Wish we were all there to give you a hand with it. Good Luck!
Good morning :) I hope you get to relax with a nice tea sometime today---sounds like you deserve it! Also hope all is well with Sally.
Happy T day :)
