Altered Playing Cards week 5

I'm once again joining Claudine at Claudine's Art Corner with my latest edition of the Altered Playing Cards, or APCs.

I tried my best to make these as close to Claudine's as possible, considering I had none of the supplies and tools she has or used.

This week I started with one thickly gessoed card, and one ungessoed card.  Claudine used scrapbook paper, while I used my scraps.

I was able to use most of the scraps that had been lingering around my scrap bin for weeks.   I set the card aside to dry.

Instead of peach, I used orange, since I was thinking autumn colors.  I didn't have that cool stencil Claudine used, so I got out my large punchinella (sequin waste)  piece to use as a stencil.

For the dots, I used both a light green and a bright green.

My sharpie took the place of black paint on the second card.  Of course, this is where I got confused again, thinking the little girl needed the green wash.  Not so.

She actually needed the brown wash I had yet to add to the first card.

After adding a bit of brown to this card, and adding a darker brown (paint, not ink) around the edges, I added the now slightly browned girl.  I call this one "Aria"

and this one "Dreams."  I realize they aren't the same quality as Claudine's art, but I'm proud of both of them.

Thanks for the visit, and I appreciate that you stopped by, since I'm one of the "rebels" as we have been labeled, who are not on Facebook.

Can't see what you are comparing you aRt to Elizabeth. But love, love, love your layers of these cards. Think they are brilliant !

Nicely done, love these! You'd never know there was a Tazmanian Devil under those. :)

Your cards are great!!! I love that you are using what you have too... I decided right off the bat that I was not going to go out and buy ANYTHING for this challenge. I'll make do with the over abundance of other supplies I have here. Hopefully I'll be posting in the next couple of days...

Hello Elizabeth, Happy October! I am stopping by finally to catch up a bit. The frustrations of computers, it bothers me greatly too friend, makes me want to shout and pitch it out the window. I hate not being able to visit and miss T time. Thankfully Rich has it working again, not quite right maybe but I'm here.

Ok, now let's talk about your awesome art, YES AWESOME and GOOD and please don't be negative about your projects. I think it's good that you can work with what you have and still come out with something truly wonderfully made by YOU!!! So lots of credit to you dear friend.
I love both of these and the steps you gave for them. You have a gift for collaging too and layers which I do not. I didn't see her cards but have enjoyed yours.

I peeked at the 30 in 30 paintings below. WOW WOW WOW!!!! So cool to see them together like this. I LOVE LOVE THESE!! YES, you must do more of these and YES to painting on the canvas. So happy for you and for us to see them. Again, you did a great job and the names of them were so good.

I can't believe it's that hot there. We have just right temps, I had shorts on the last two days. I am hoping the temps stay just like it's been, JUST RIGHT. I'm so excited for another month of fall, hoping it goes slow.

Sam is excite for his birthday and that he had a growth spurt these last couple weeks. He wakes up taller a few times lately and I tease him no more going to bed if your going to grow. He passed me and Summer and my mom and niece and almost up to Renee now.

Take care dear friend and I will be back soon. If my computer goes out I will go to library to post for T time or just to post. HUGS!

These are both lovely and so much your style. I adore your dream background! I had a hard time getting my stencil to work (how sad does that sound?!) so I need more practice with that, too.

I'm glad to be one of the "rebels"! I actually have a FB account that I opened just so I could have a fan page for my Etsy shop, but it did nothing for me and I never even post there anymore.

Love those vintage images. And your use of materials. That punchinella is great stuff, isn't it?

Gorgeous cards Elizabeth. I always enjoy watching how you created your creations.
Many thanks for visiting my last 29 Faces post Elizabeth, you are very generous with your comments as always. Another blogland friend said the last face (magazine lady) reminded her of Nana Mouskouri; a wee bit perhaps, if you squint, lol. I hope you have a fabulous weekend ahead. :o))
