Craft Barn's 17th Quotes and Lyrics Challenge

This fortnight the words we are to use for Craft Barn's quotes and lyrics challenge are peaceful and grace.

Although I looked for quotes for these two words, all I could find was the word peace.  Then I remembered the beautiful song "Amazing Grace," but didn't know the lyrics.  When I searched for them, I found Amazing Grace is also called "Peaceful Easy Feeling," which is also the title to a song I attribute to the Eagles from my high school days.

For this piece, I started with a sheet of copier/printer paper, to which I added one of my handmade shimmering mists on bubble wrap.

Next I used my handmade cross stamp

using pigment ink.

While these were drying, I cut and added decorative stitches around a heart I made from some hand dyed fabric I had left over from a previous project.

I then took the completed piece, except the heart, to the office where I printed the lyrics to the song:

Amazing Grace (Peaceful Easy Feeling)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind but now I see

Chorus:
And I've got a peaceful, easy feeling
And I know He won't let me down
Cause I'm already standing, on solid ground

~ Unknown lyricist, religious song

I finished the piece by gluing the heart to the paper, adding the No. 17, and gluing the entire assembly to my substrate, a used file folder.

As always, I was able to visit everyone this fortnight, including the gals who are on Facebook, and Fiona in Spain who ALWAYS leaves me a lovely comment.  Unfortunately, I can't return the favor to you three gals.

EDIT:  When Julie Wheatman showed her same song, different lyrics, I began to wonder why they were so very different.  When I originally searched for the lyrics, instead of using the words "amazing grace," I put in the words from the challenge and found both here:

http://higherpraise.com/Lyrics4/AmazingGracePeacefulEasyFeeling.htm

After reading Julie's comment and seeing her lovely tag, I searched for amazing grace lyrics.  I found the exact same information Julie shared.  Thanks Julie for setting the record straight.

What a beautiful 'first in' peace for this fortnights challenge. The background is so lovely and I like your homemade cross. The font you chose for the psalm is ever so nice, I wish my handwriting was so pretty :D
Many thanks for your very kind comment on my blackberry painting. I really appreciate it (hugs) :o))

Had a quick look at your latest L&O challenge and one of my favourite hymns, if not the saddest as I had it at my Dad's funeral and it still brings tears to my eyes after 16 years. Don't know your chorus version though. Can play it on my harp too. Love your page.
Anyway the reason for my visit is that I have just ROFL to your last comment about my lack of bird photos!!! The last one would have to be a Phoenix me thinks!! LOL Oh so funny. BJ still giggling ...........

So quick on the "draw" and I thought I was being pretty good this time lol. Amazingly same song, though slightly different lyrics and very different interpretation. Love how everything you have used is hand made too.

Just lovely Elizabeth. That hymn always gives me goose bumps. Even more so when my neighbor is practicing on his bagpipes. He's a fireman and plays with a bagpipe corp. I think his wife makes him practice outside. ;)

Another fab page. I love the idea with the bubble wrap, have to try it. I agree with TwinkleToes the font is beautiful, would be great if my handwriting would look anything like that :)

Hello again, and thank you so much for your comments on my entry, I'm so pleased I brought back some old memories! I went onto You Tube and think I've found the sign off piece you are talking about, you can find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGj6deaINxM (you'll probably have to copy and paste that). :)

Your comment cheered me up no end, and no my scraps aren't any better than anybody else. Maybe you should try next time and see what you come up with?
I love your DIY stamp and sprays, I too like to make my own tools and embellishments if I can, although I have never attempted to carve a stamp yet!

One of my favorite hymns...I could listen to Elvis belt this out over and over again! You did a great job despite the melding of the two songs!

Hand cut stamp, home made mica spray and hand dyed fabric, what a talented person you are. They've all come together to make a lovely page.
