This fortnight Craft Barn's quotes and lyrics challenge was to use the words imagination or logic. This was a no-brainer for me, since I was a mathematician/statistician in a previous life.
I began with a few step-out photos to show how I started this piece. Of course I began as always with my used file folder and a few pieces cut from an old algebra book,
to which I added fluid acrylics in Hansa Yellow Medium and Pyrrole Red.
You can see it's early morning nighttime here, so the photos are rather dull with lots of shadows.
The reason I don't journal is because no one can read my writing. So, here is the quote:
Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined
and recalculated, heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart.
~ Tammara Webber

I want to thank both Carol on Facebook and Fiona on G+ for being so good about visiting me. Unfortunately, I can't leave comments on your beautiful art, although I always visit and admire what you've done. And I got to everyone again this time. So thanks for also visiting me, and being so kind with your comments.
Now please visit The Craft Barn for links to others who are playing in this challenge. I know they appreciate it as much as I.

You have been quick off the mark with this one. It's another fab page with my favorite colour combo. Love it. I didn't made the last challenge but will play along again this time. Sandra :)
Great page! Right above the first logic is the coolest sploosh of paint that looks like a person to me. Made me smile...
Oh, the colors are so vibrant in the last few pictures. Beautiful .... And the quote goes really well with the background. I see the person above "logic" too!
Not only is this a beautifully executed piece of art, but it fits the beautiful quote perfectly! Great use of those algebra pages, too!
Great to see you use old algebra pages on your page. Fantastic vibrant colours which suit your quote so beautifully :-) xxx
Elizabeth, this is gorgeous! I can read your handwriting just fine (although I appreciated the close-ups, but that's more about my eyesight than your writing)! I love the colours you've used, and the algebra pages are perfect to illustrate the quote. Great page.
Glad you enjoyed my Jetson's label - haha - I'm going there for lunch today and I might have to get a ginger ale to go as that label has a godzilla-like creature on it - ye-haw! :)
Given the time difference I can't believe how fast you were! great quote, love the colours
Love seeing the process!
Love the colors!

Elizabeth, you never miss a trick! Yes I posted the wrong number on my ICAD last night (probably also dozing off - LOL) - I noticed it this morning and corrected it. :) Thanks for checking it out and leaving your nice comment!
No doubt your math are delightfully passionate hearts!
Hello Elizabeth,
me again
thank you for your lovely words on my blog.. and yes it would be a pleasure to me to be in your linkbar!
Sorry that I didn't ask you and grabbed your blog for my sidebar.
This new google thing instead of the other one.. I really don't know exactly why I have it now, means what I did to get it .. and don't know how to go back to the old version..have to check...
it's not so good in my mind..you are right!

You are always sooo quick, I reckon you stay up really really late and keep refreshing the CB page until the new words show up, LOl Lol :D
I love your page, the colours are just lush (hate algebra), and the quote is very cool. Your handwriting is quite neat actually, and is easy to read, but easier close-up.
I too see the person above the word logic and think he's carrying a very large paintbrush under his arm, lol.
ttfn :o)
Fab page and great quote. Love the vibrant colors. They must be yours or Bleubeard's favorites. Hugs from two out of sorts Girls. ( Baby ate a snail, accidentally and T ate a spider, on purpose.) oh those two! Hugs from me too. :)
Love the quote and had fun reading it round the heart! BJ
Hi E!!! Yep, still about, but very busy and not able to play for a while. Love this piece, the colours are wonderful and algebra gives me hives except in these circumstances, love the hearts and the quote is perfect!
Great page, great quote and and always I enjoyed seeing your work in progress. You are so good at challenges.

What lovely words you used to illustrate your piece. Quite perfect really. xox
Fantastic quote for the challenge, and of course I LOVE the bright colors.
Wow, what a beautiful inferno of colour and so right for the quote.
Math was my favourite subject way back when especially algebra, haven't got a clue now lol.And thank you both for your lovely comments on the last challenge.
Glorious color and a thought provoking quote. :)
Such vibrant colours, and I love the quote. I enjoyed maths at school, but not sure I could cope with it now!
Such a beautiful quote and you've depicted it brilliantly. I love the bright oranges and yellows you've used.
Commenting while I still have an internet connection!!!! Love your fabulous piece but the algebra leaves me quite cold :) Never did understand it, give me books and history every time :)
I love your quote and your handwriting is perfectly legible to me.
