This week, Chelle at Journal 52 defined building character as "a person marked by notable traits." I thought no further than that definition when I decided what I would make for this week's prompt.
On a homemade shimmer misted file folder, I give you Lina Cavalieri, some believe was the most beautiful woman in the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Piero Fornasetti certainly felt so, because he sketched her image he found in a magazine over 500 times during his lifetime. Now if that's not building character, I don't know what is.
And how many of you who stamp, haven't seen or own one of her images or faces? I have three and I'm not even a stamper.
To the stamped image I added a bit of decorative ribbon that I hoped would make you believe it is a high collar indicative of those worn in the 19th century.
I'm a bit sad this only shows on my blog, since I'm not on Facebook or Flickr. It's too bad there's no way to link up other than those two venues. But I'll continue to create these throughout the year, regardless, although I realize I'm missing out on a huge number of artists and their interpretation of the weekly prompt.

WOW love your new page. I have done a screen shot of the Google webpage but not sure how to send it to you? Might have to blog it for you....... BJ
Fantastic page Elizabeth, the lace collar is superb. What fascinating info too, thank-you sweetie, I have always wondered who she was.
Huge hugs x x x x
Lovely image that gal, she certainly shows up everywhere.....xox
very nice! Love the way the sprays worked. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of your recipe. btw I found the glycerine in the soap making section at Hobby Lobby. Evidently they have taken it out of pharmacies all together and it is only used for soap making now! Who would have thought!!
Hello Elizabeth!! How are you? So happy to see you playing along with these prompts. I don't have FB either but what I finally did do for a certain class because they were going to do mail art swaps and I missed their other ones and finally decided to join. I only use it for that class and it's kept private. Now I just check it from time to time.
Maybe you could do it that way too.
Sorry for the rambling, just that I understand how your feeling.
I LOVE THIS!! That beaded collar is so pretty and the red is beautiful. Great job on it and the prompt!
Well, today the kids finally went back to school!! YIPPEE!! I painted teacups, YAY!! I have tons to show once I can get my pictures to work. Still can't figure out what's wrong. I enjoyed the peace and just played and relaxed. Tomorrow though I will do grocery shopping (yuck) and clean house before the weekend craziness starts. It's getting warmer now too.
Hope you are doing well and enjoy your weekend! HUGS!!
I had thought about doing these but also am not on facebook or twitter or flickr or any of those fashionable social sights. Maybe I should catch up and join you? At least we could look at each other's weekly art. ;)
I always wondered whose image that was on those stamps...truly a beautiful face. Quite a beautiful page too...love the addition of the lace for the collar! your color combinations are so pretty...
Love this page! I have facebook, since my siblings live a long way away and it allows me to find out what they are up to, but I only check it now and then. I find it full of rubbish most of the time and the groups on it although inspiring are so full of posts I avoid them because I don't like spending my whole day looking at stuff on the internet when I should be working. Bloglovin provides me with plenty and it is only what I want to see.
The beaded collar makes it for me. I've seen the image in lots of artwork so it takes something different - like the collar - to grab my attention.

Very clever with the collar.
Cool page! Is that who's on my stamp...double cool. So I love your interpretation of the prompt. Now don't worry bout not being on those social thingy sites, I'm not either and have no plans to be. You can count on us Deskers we'll be happy to come by and see what you're up too twice a week atleast. :) Hugs
You latest file folder art is really super E...especially coupled with your shimmer mists...
So interesting about Lina Cavalieri...learned something new and will click on Piero F to find out more...thanks for sharing...
I first thought you gave her a row of decorative Indian Bindi as a collar decoration and was waiting to hear where you found those ;)
I am meeting my sister today for coffee and she has some file folders for me = yippee!
have a great weekend!
